Genetic Modification In The Movie Gattaca
The definition of Genetic modification is containing genetic material that has been artificially altered so as to produce a desired characteristic. Why would one such desire a needed characteristic to modify themselves? Is it to please themselves or to please others? I was shown the movie GATTACA and this movie is about a young man named Vincent who was naturally birthed into the world and was expected to have health problems because during this century about everyone has genetically modified their child before birth. Afterwards they had another son that was genetically modified to their desired characteristic and they gave that son the most love and attention and vincent was treated like a glass vase that has legs. He was fragile and broken and weak to the slightest fall. Little did his parents know that he was strong inside and out. Genetic modification is something that can tear people apart if you misuse it.
There is another character in this story in the perspective of someone who is genetically modified, his name was Jerome. He was a swimming Olympic who always won silver. If I won …show more content…
Just like what they did to Vincent. They made him feel like a piece of paper that could be bent or ripped apart with a simple touch .He felt the same way for the longest time until he took up astronomy and physics. He found a way to get rid of all the painful thoughts of him being worthless. He found happiness through love and a friendship with Jerome. Not everyone's story can be as happy as Vincent's in the end. Use genetic modification wisely and not overuse it.Think about the fact that you are changing someone's life by doing this and if you use it without careful thought, you can ruin someone's life and cause them to either let it go to their head or even let it become a discriminatory
