Gary Soto: An Analysis Of Seventh Grade By Gary Soto
In the story "Seventh Grade" by Gary Soto, Victor, the main character, learns to be himself through his embarrassing moments. For instance, " He smiled back and said, 'Yeah that's me.' His brown face blushed. Why hadn't e said, ' Hi Teresa' or' How was your summer?' or something nice." ( paragraph 19). This shows that Victor was embarrassed about what he said to Teresa and felt that she thought he was a fool. Instead, Victor wanted to say something nice to impress her, but ended up blurting our something ridiculous. Furthermore, Victor embarrasses himself again in French class as stated in the story, ' Teresa sat a few desks away, no doubt thinking he was a fool. without looking at Mr. Bueller victor mumbled,' Frenchie oh wewe gee in September.'"
