The future in the work force is often sometimes scary to think about. Currently when trying to get ahold of a customer service representative with most companies it is a struggle trying to get through to a live person. It is common now to get stuck with a recording along with a long hassle with the recording trying to understand what is being said or pressed and this often leaves the person calling in frustration. The future is a scary, but also exciting, thing to think about. I feel lucky to have been given the opportunity to take this course where exploring our education and our future was the whole point. I feel as though I learned a lot during the duration of this course, but I haven’t really had the opportunity to put it into practice yet which is why I am glad this paper was assigned. It gives me the opportunity to really explore my future in ways I haven’t done so yet. In order to really see how this course has affected me, I must first look back at old assignments to see how I have changed since the beginning of this course and during the duration of this course.…

Every year it seems like companies come out with bigger and better cell phones, computers, cars, and iPods. Just when you thought you had the best, something better comes out. This is because technology has advanced since past generations. As the future generation, we have the role of creating bigger and better things. Since technology is advancing, our education also has to advance. Our grandparent’s idea of a computer was a lead pencil and a notebook. In the future our school list is going to consist of laptops. My generation is so much more complex. We have to learn how to use new technology, otherwise it is pointless. Our minds and thinking have to be able to…

    Technology Within Business

Firstly, by having technological advancements as the most imperative goal in businesses it can result in a dependency on technology. Dependency means that the company’s main reliance is on technology in order to function. Therefore if the technology fails then the business can become unsuccessful. For example this reliance on technology was made evident when the computers that ran the power for Melbourne tunnels failed in October 2012 and resulted in the Melbourne tunnels being shut down (ABC, 2012, para 1). On the other hand, technology can result in a more efficient workplace and work environment. For example Intel has increased their productivity through wireless notebooks by five percent per employee (Rungta, Tierney, Towles, 2008, p2). However when technology does breakdown it can cause larger problems such as, a loss of customer reliability and data los. This was made evident when a fault occurred in Commonwealth Bank Automated Teller Machines and online banking system in March 2012 and resulted in customers being able to overdraw their account (Zappone, 2012, para). Therefore, organisation’s need to focus on strategies that allow people to work with minimal technology. Hence, it is evident that companies should not depend on technology because it is not always reliable and can negatively affect a businesses performance. Therefore technological advancements should not be imperative for a business today.…

As technology expands more into our work place, it may have a great effect as to whether we have a job or employment in the future. Robot nation, by Robert Bain states that, "people are generally said to be lazy and always looking for the easy way to do things". Technology has answered this aforementioned quest by making machines that are able to do our work for us. Examples of this are automatic mail sorters, McDonald's hamburger patty flippers, self service line at grocery stores and even web sites…

Overall, my peer reviewers and I think my ability to envision the future is above average. I can see long-term ideas and how different environmental variables will affect the outcome of a project. I enjoy thinking about contingency plans and I usually have a good understanding of what I would like the end result to look like and perform like. For example, I currently work as a web designer at an apparel company in Stafford. I have been working here almost eight months. When I arrived in May to start the job, I had many fantastic ideas already that I wanted to try. However, limitations by the software and the staff forced me to re-assess my vision several times every month. I can still see what I would like the functionality of the website to be in my head, and continue to take every strenuous step forward that I can to achieve this sometimes lofty goal.…

Over the past four years throughout High School I’ve learned that you shouldn’t ask what the future holds because, you define it. You can control your destiny by the decisions you make, the manner in how you conduct yourself, and how you treat others. But, I can see the growth that I’ve achieved over the years. Not just my growth in school but as an individual. I no longer have the same goals as I once did; my standards and expectations are higher.…
