French Essay on School
French Essay
Si

The essay aims it’s argument at an educated audience, specifically an audience of scholars. Spalter and van Dam state, “We hope that our framework of disciplinary areas and experiences with different instructional approaches, as well as materials provided online, will aid those of you undertaking this vital work” (Spalter and van Dam, 2008). The authors target an audience that takes interest in education and learning techniques. They pay particular attention to college course and framework, thus, the article is most likely to persuade university professors and/or those affected by college academia; i.e. parents of college students, and middle-aged scholars who have witnessed the 21st century’s technological advances.…

All throughout my educational career I had never taken the time to reflect on what school really meant to me and if school was made optional would I still attend? After reading the essay “Against School,” by John Taylor Gatto a series of questions began to arise in my head. Is school really that necessary? Is it really the only way for a person to be successful in life? According to John Taylor Gatto schools are nothing but merely “laboratories of experimentation on young minds, drill centers for the habits and attitudes that corporate society demands (38).” After reading Gatto’s essay I must say I agree. The educational school system in the U.S…

Starting School Later A big topic in the news right now is students, especially athletes, not getting enough sleep due to a combination of athletic practices and events, homework, and family activities. Having to get up at six o’clock is already extremely challenging, but it becomes even more difficult when students have enormous day ahead of them, including school, practices, homework, and anything else needed to be done. Starting school later would be the perfect solution to this, and would give all students a chance to sleep later each day. Sleep is necessary for proper brain function, and is needed, especially for high school students, to maintain proper health.…

Juvenile delinquency typically follows a similar trajectory to that of normal adolescent development. Youth tend to follow a path of delinquency rather than engaging randomly. With school based intervention programs, it can allow for families, schools and communities to intervene in a child’s life before they develop antisocial behaviors and end up in the juvenile justice system. Schools provide regular access to children through their development years. School based intervention programs can provide change to delinquent behaviors in and outside of the school. I found a school-based program to reduce violence, which is a universal school based program. The program is designed to reduce violence and teach students about the problems of violence and prevention. Depending on the grade,…

The Government introduced free early years education to all children aged between three and four in 2005. Currently this entitlement is for 15 hours per week, over 38 weeks a year. In order to receive the funding, the early years education or childcare must be with a childcare provider that is approved. If parent/carers go over the allocation stated above then they are required to pay for additional hours. The Government fund early years education entitlement through local authorities. In some cases, children aged two are also entitled to free early years education for example, if a parent receives income support or a child has special educational needs.…

Would it be more suitable for students to attend school year round or be able to get a kick out of an extended break over the summer? Attending school year round would mean longer breaks spread throughout the year, in other words there would no longer be a three month summer vacation. Students should not have to attend school year round because extracurricular activities would be disrupted, students would eventually get lazy in school, and it would be intricate for students to find jobs in the summer with shorter breaks.…

Most kids think of the summer months as a well deserved break for the hard work they put in during the school year. Personally I cannot imagine having to go to school continuously without a prolonged amount of time off. Similar to myself, most students dread the idea of year round school. Year round school is a bad idea because it would cause student resistance, and it would prevent students to catch up through summer school.…
