Freegeek Research Paper
Freegeek is an agency dedicated to helping communities around the world recycle and gain access to computers.
I “quality controlled” computers, making sure they worked in basic ways before Freegeek put them in their store or gave them to poor schools. It was frustrating at times, as \ some of the computers wouldn’t load, but it was satisfying to go through several computers and make sure they were working properly. It made me feel like I was making a difference for schools and businesses.
The most difficult part was loading the drivers/performing a stress test, as when the computer took a long time, I didn’t know if it was loading or it had crashed. One of the computers I was checking didn’t like the Nvidia driver, so I had to go get an instructor

It also teaches you things you didn’t know, while not boring you..
Next time, I would bring a packed lunch, as I got really hungry while working from 10-1:30. I would also try building the computers instead of quality controlling them, just to try something different and to get more of a feel for how computers work.
Yes, something surprising did happen. There is a fridge for the volunteers at Freegeek, and if you don’t label your food, it is liable to get eaten. Someone brought in a 20 gallon tub of ice cream and dumped it in the freezer, so everyone in Freegeek got to enjoy some ice cream. It was really cool.
I made the contact to set up the service, with my parents helping, as an adult is required to be with you at all times during the service. It was a hard to get around scheduling sometimes, as I had a fencing tournament/was playing rugby at the same time they offered us a shift. Sometimes they were just booked out. I encountered the computers not always working properly, as well as me being hungry. That resulted in me not being able to concentrate as well, lowering my productivity rate. Other times, the instruction binder was missing instructions, or I forgot to plug in an ethernet cable. There were a few hiccups along the way, but the service was easy and simple

A common struggle that almost all glass-wearers go through is the slipping of the glasses down the nose. Many describe it as a pain and a bother to feel the glasses slip and slide or fall of your face and at worse moments. A product that would keep the glasses fit and comfortable without bending the frames or using pads would be great. On recognition of this need Don Hejny from Nashville came up with a beeswax blend of all certified organic and natural ingredients specially formulated to keep your glasses firmly on the nose. It is a simple product to use. Simply wipe the frames of your glasses and twist out a bit of the Nerdwax and apply on the edges of your glasses. It works by creating a layer of friction between the…

The Genre: You’re familiar with the book and movie reviews that appear in newspapers, magazines, and websites. They are just one kind of evaluative writing, but from them we can identify the key components of the genre. First, there is the object to be evaluated. Often this is a single thing—a music CD, a scholarly study, a corporation—but it can also be an idea or process: the impact of a particular band on rock history, the importance of a new trend in scholarly opinion, or the management practices used by a particular sector of industry. Second, there are the criteria…

My school needs an ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG 101. Everyone is wrong at some point yet it takes years for anyone to learn to accept it. People would rather defend false perceptions as opposed to admitting a mistake. (eg. "That's a cat." "No, it's a fluffy dog." "..." "Well?" "It's a funny-looking cat.") It gets in the way of teamwork, relationships, and even everyday conversation. We are taught that wrong is the worst thing you can be so we avoid it, but we must unlearn this mentality so we can learn from our mistakes and progress as people. And where better than from the place that taught us?…

It is nice to hear back from you and I would be glad to answer each one of your questions to the best of my ability. There are a lot of things that can be done on the internet. The internet is a wonderful thing to have access to. Having access to the internet can open up a new light to a whole different world. The internet connects people all over the world. The internet gives a person access to lots and lots of information that can be very valuable to them. It is very important in a lot of cases to know rather or not the information that you have accessed is reliable or not. Not know rather or not the information is reliable can cause some major problems. The way that I determine rather or not the information that I access is reliable is by looking for the author’s information so I can know who to give credit to for the information. I consider information credible when it contains a citation. I like to use information that is peer-reviewed because that to means that it is credible because it has been reviewed by other people and deemed to be credible. Knowing if information is credible is important but it is also important to know what to look for the signs that information may not be credible. I prefer to not use information if an author is not known unless I can prove it too credible in other ways. I do not like to use information that can be edited by other people because the information may be their opinion instead of a true fact. I do not like to use information that is out-dated because things in the world is changing at a rapid…

“People always fear change. People feared electricity when it was invented, didn't they? People feared coal, they feared gas-powered engines... There will always be ignorance, and ignorance leads to fear. But with time, people will come to accept their silicon masters,”Bill Gates. The world’s youngest billionaire is the hard working, intelligent Bill Gates. This man independently started his own computer company and built it up to a 230 billion dollar empire. Bill Gates changed the way the world uses computers by building his company, Microsoft, from the ground up, enforcing that computer software is illegal to steal, and by making personal computers available for everyone to have in their own home.…
