Freak has morquio syndrome which cause him to be around 3 foot tall but he is incredibly clever. Max is the opposite. He is around 6 foot tall. Max believes that he is dumb and is in the learning-disabled class. They are both put in dangerous situations when Max’s dad kidnapped Max. Freak and Max displayed great bravery and courage when in critical positions.
