Fracking Persuasive Speech
There have been earthquakes in places that has never had them. Some earthquakes are so small they are barely noticed, but if they get bigger they could destroy buildings or cause serious damage. These earthquakes are caused by horizontal hydraulic fracking, which is used to get oil and natural gas out of the earth.Until we can make sure that fracking is safe we should ban it.
Fracking has a negative effect on the environment. Fracking turns natural environment into pads,roads pipelines and other infrastructures.The clearance in Pennsylvania of forest have lead to an increase of pollution.(“The Cost of Fracking”).To Chesapeake bay which suffers from nutrient generated dead zone.Fracking also affect agricultural productivity of an irrigated crop …show more content…
I want us to benefit from it here as well.(“What Is Fracking and Why Is It Controversial”).These benefits or positive impacts are that we can use natural gas instead of coal which has brought down carbon dioxide levels.(“Cheaper Natural Gas Lowering Carbon Dioxide Emission”).People have also thought of using natural gas instead of gasoline because of the pollution gasoline has.If cars were to use natural gas instead of gasoline it would cut down on the carbon dioxide pollution by at least ninety percent.But to use natural gas would be unrealistic though because only 3,500 stations out of 120,000 offer natural gas and it would take billions of dollars to make it to where every gas station has it.(“Is fracking Safe?The most controversial Claims About Natural Gas …show more content…
Workers would also not want to ban fracking because they would lose their jobs. Most of these objections are small compared to the problems that come with fracking. (“Six Reasons Fracking Has Flopped Over Seas”) Continuing to frack would cause a lot of environmental issues along with health issues from the gas that comes up when drilling for oil or gas.It also cost the government more money to frack because of oil spill clean up,water waste disposal and hauling water which tears up the roads that would need to be fixed. It can taking up to 7 million gallons of water to frack a single well. Wastewater is found at all oil and gas extraction wells because salt water occurs when the extraction oil and gas takes place.
