    Soviet Union Economy

This was caused by multiple factors, but the core of the problem was the command economy system itself. Centralized planning of the government that led to its glory could no longer be sustained, as the Soviet Union had grown so large in size that the planners simply could not come out with effective economic policies anymore, it had proven to be too much for a central government to handle. (Worldology, n.d.) Under the rule of Leonid Brezhnev, growth was in a steep declined starting from the ninth 5-year plan (1970-1975) with a growth rate of 3% approximately and 1-1.9% and 0.6-1.8% in the subsequent 10th and 11th 5 year plans. The factors that caused the Soviet economy to go into stagnation was further intensified by the war waged on Afghanistan and the arms race with the United States during the cold war era. With almost one third of Soviet’s gross national product dedicated to military expenses, and the depletion of various national resources like oil and natural gas, the Soviet Union was placed in a very tight spot economically speaking. Considering that it was the natural resources that was the Soviet’s last safety net keeping it afloat in the 1970s, the fore-mentioned two factors became too much for the economy to recover from. (Baucom, 1992) This led up to the last leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail…

I have put some suggestive solutions or at least some hints for the past exam papers starting from year 2004. In so doing, I emphasize T 1, T 2 and T 3 of 2010, T 1 and T 2 year 2009, S1 and S2 of year 2008, S1 and S2 of year 2007, S1 and S2 of year 2006 — these past exam papers are more relevant to our current courses as we have used the same textbook, course outline and study guide. Please ignore the multiplier questions as those questions are not relevant for our final exam. I also encourage my students to go through all those elive sessions (recorded by myself). These elive sessions will refresh your memory as well as help you to understand the critical concepts in Economics. Please note that there is no harm of trying to attempt the past exam papers as much as you can – as there is wise saying that “practice makes one perfect”. However, beyond the year 2006 one might find those past exam questions are hard to answer or follow , which is not surprising as we have used different textbooks and course outline and even in some years— the exam format is bit different. Therefore, attempting such questions you might end up with a problem which is summarized by another wise saying 1…

So basically, trying to maximize your utility means spending more risks, so in the end or future, it’s better for us. However, life is always a roller coaster; it has ups and downs, just like the future of your utility. There’s always a trade-off. You either risk it now or gain utilities after, or you use your utility now, and face the consequence later. If you harass your boss out of anger, you may feel relieved for a while but a couple of months later; you may see yourself in jail. If you save up money to buy the latest technology instead of purchasing the golf clubs you wanted,…
