Forensic Scientist A Forensic Scientist is someone who puts their scientific training, skills, and experience in a criminal and legal environment, to help catch and convict people who have committed crimes. Forensic scientists are called upon when help is needed to extract and assess any physical evidence that could have been left at the crime scene. The details of the evidence is then explained in a court in order for an appropriate legal action to take place against the crime. Forensic science deals with several specializations such as certain aspects of crimes scenes, bodies, evidence and more. The first duty and responsibility of a forensic scientist is to collect evidence from a particular crime scene where the evidence requires the specific use of scientific skills to make sure that its properly separated without contaminating it. For example, a body that is in a state of decomposition and could not be moved without causing any damage that could be evidence, a forensic scientist may be called to assist. Many forensic scientists who are employed by the government are typically able to work a 40 hour work week, however, deadlines and an increasing amount of cases may require overtime. Forensic scientists usually spend their working time in a crime lab, but in several matters, forensic scientists are called to crime scenes in order to examine and make an analysis to secure evidence. There are several cases of pressure a worker in the field can experience. One of these cases is that beginning positions are typically limited and competition for fire is fierce. Another case of pressure in this field is that the evidence might not always be accessible at times. As a forensic scientist you will need to have special skills that are required on a daily basis. The field of Forensics requires scientist to work with a wide assortment of people, in many situations that are stressful. This requires people going into this field to have exceptional people skills.
