Flff Leadership Qualities
As a leader, I work for all the cadets and it is my role to assist them in achieving their success and goals. These past three years, I’ve always set a good example for all the cadets. For example, I exhibit integrity, I’ve never missed a uniform day, I have a high aptitude points, etc. I have confidence in exemplifying respect; allowing others (higher ups or lower cadets) to have their say whether I concur with it or not. I strive to allow each cadets in the unit to showcase their unique abilities and skills. The key quality in a successful leader is leadership, the ability to be the visionary for the people who are working under them.

I have worked with many cadets and participated in many teams for the past three years and in fact, I am currently a Platoon Leader, Honor Guard captain, and taking up the captain role of the Orienteering team. Being receptive to change and having a flexible way of thinking, this year I have been able to achieve great results at leading my lower-ranking fellow cadets. I understand that the CO/XO/CMC position requires a candidate to lead the whole company to achieve success. I truly believe I can successfully fill any of these …show more content…
I want this position because I feel that I possess all the necessary qualifications, qualities and abilities, to empower me to be effective. I fit the individual detail impeccably. As I have mentioned above, I can work independently or as part of a team. I take initiative, whether it is or isn't needed, and I do not wait for others to tell me what to do. I have a decent record of having the capacity to draw out the best in others, particularly the cadets. If I were to become the Commanding Officer, the position will permit me to build up the skills, I as of now have, and obtain new ones. I consider this to be an open door for me to progress my JROTC career development and for what's to come. The challenge that this position presents, is something that I will appreciate handling. I am at my best when faced with problems that should be settled rapidly and effectively. I am certain that I can make an impact and bring benefit to the unit and to myself. The Commanding Officer position is a logical step forward for me and if I was appointed then I feel you would not be

Like all military officers, I was trained and groomed to be a leader from the time I raised my right hand and took the oath of office. The most important contribution to my success was the emphasis I placed on putting junior member’s needs before mine. I have a code that I live by and it has been very effective as a leader, “Take care of your people, and they will take care of…

“A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others” ( (MacArthur, 2017). As individuals come and go in our lives, it is only those who make an impact that truly stay in our hearts and minds. I was fortunate enough to had many individuals in my life who have molded me to the leader I am today. CSM Lash L Bailey was one of my first NCOs when I came into the army, displaying everything that a leader should be showing patience, compassion and humility. As the army continues to change with society and toxic leadership continues to disrupt our ranks CSM Bailey has continually stood above it all. With his coaching and mentoring I strive to leave the same legacy…

At the end of my junior year, I earned the rank Lieutenant Commander. With this rank I am in charge of the whole unit and have to know how to lead people in the best way. By going to leadership academy and a leadership conference, I realized there are different ways to lead different people. Realizing this is crucial because I cannot approach someone in a situation the same way I did with another person, I learned how to talk to certain people based on their personality.…

Leadership is a very powerful trait that many wish to possess, but only few have the ability to appropriately carry out the task. It is a trait that is not only God-given, but also learned throughout life as we are given many leaders to observe as we journey throughout childhood and into adulthood. With my service in the military approaching 28 years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve under some very talented leaders within my varied career in the Air National Guard. I’ve also been given many opportunities to travel to a variety of places and countries that most people that I grew up with in Mississippi only dream of visiting. Since joining the Air National Guard in 1989, it has been a rewarding career both as an enlisted…

I never had a problem with being a mechanic but I feel I have a greater potential to "do things", to actually have decision making skills to change what I felt needed to be changed. As an E1 and even up to this point as an E3 I have seen many of my peers fooling around and have seen those higher above me stagnant in their positions and I don't want that to be me. I want to not only be able to grow as an individual and consistently try to improve myself and my career, I want to be able to bring those around me up with me as best as I can. Hopefully if one day I manage to become a commander of a unit I'll be able to make the changes that I feel need to me made because the soldiers and the Army that I have seen from the bottom looking up and from the inside out is but a shell of its former glory. I'm not saying I'd be able to change the Army overnight. I know I would have to work a long time and on a small scale to slowly improve this force as a whole, but I feel given the opportunity I would be able to make a great leader and demonstrate by example to the soldiers following after me. In short I would like to be an officer in order to grow as a person, to display what it means to be a leader, and to help those around me who also…

The thing that attracts me the most about being an officer of SACNAS is the passion of helping the community and see that other officers are committed to their position. I think that having a leadership position is just showing that you’re superior than everyone, we must have equally opportunity and have everyone to collaborate with this chapter. Being officer of SACNAS, will not show that I’m a leader, but making the actions or promises to change our chapter and the STEM community will make me a leader. Resilience, dedication and leadership are qualities befitting for a successful USMA cadet and a successful Army officer. Resilience is not only an essential quality for becoming a successful cadet or officer, it is also essential for your life. Resilience is the ability to resurrect one’s self from hard times, to never give up, and displays ones mental strength. In the academy I’ve heard that on a cadet’s first year they undergo times of overwhelming stress in tests of emotional stability, perseverance, and ability to organize and perform under stress. With resilience and resolve a cadet will be able to overcome these stressful obstacles. Likewise, discipline is another quality in becoming a successful USMA cadet and a successful Army officer. At times resilience may complement dedication because when one dedicates their self to something, one needs the resolve to continue on with it and never give up. Dedication shows ones loyalty, commitment, and devotion, in which is an important trait when offering one’s service to their country. To finish, a successful USMA cadet and Army officer should have the quality of leadership. As a leader one must offer guidance and work together as a team to get things done efficiently. Leadership brings out control and order in a group. Showing resilience and dedication as a leader conveys a sense of trustworthiness and cooperation among their followers. Any person with a position of leadership needs to set a positive example in order to make their self charismatic and a successful leader. Having these qualities will show the mental strength, devotion, and management skills it takes in becoming a successful USMA cadet and Army…

First of all, I display excellent leadership skills. For example, in JROTC I am the 1st Sergeant and it isn't a rank that just anyone could get. In my time as Executive Officer, I have worked with five separate Division Commanders, each with their own leadership styles, strengths, and weaknesses. In observing them operate the Division, I have been able to develop a powerful skill set by seeing what works and what does not. Having honed these observations into workable skills over the last few years will allow me to deftly fill the role of Captain. On many occasions I have acted as Division Commander, most notably during a commander’s extended absence due to a medical issue. Having handled duties from both the Patrol and CRT sides of the Division, I have a complete understanding of how a Patrol Division operates. This includes budgetary considerations, staffing, personnel issues, logistical considerations, morale, monthly/quarterly reports, special projects, and significant event response. Other Divisions throughout the agency require their commanders to consider and address these same issues. Having already handled each of these facets myself, I will be well prepared to address them in the role of Captain wherever I am…
