Five Forces Analysis of the Swedish Construction Industry
Introduction
This report is regarding about Sri Lankan Construction Industry. And a analysis about the industry.
Due to massive development endevours by the government and private sector in 2012 the construction industry has recorded a massive growth of over 17.3%,11% in 2011.The construction industry only second to the tourism industry.
The key entities that undertake construction work are as follows : * Registered contractors if ICATD * International Contractors * Unregistered informal contractors.
According to Institute of Construction Training and Development (ICTAD) there are about 2500 registered contractors .only 5% of them are graded as major contractors like MAGA,ACCESS,ICC…..All of them have handled nealy US $ 4billion projects during 2011.
To do an industry analysis there has many tools. To do this analysis about construction industry we mainly consider about the SWOT analysis of the industry as a whole, PESTAL analysis and the main part is Porters model. And we keen to do our report within our scope.
When we were doing this analysis we had to face some problems also.
To do a analysis on a industry we have to collect more details ,statistics informations and grt ideas and information from the key players of the industry. we couldn’t access all the information and also couldn’t visit all the organizations to get the information therefore we visit MAGA and ICC to collect our information and use some publications and ICATD information to complete this analysis.
The major companies exist in sri lanka is not enough they are not only reclunt to adopt new technologies but also unwilling to take any financial risks.For an example,their presence in Colombo stock exchange is almost Zero.
