Prayer- Father God in heaven, it is once again that you have allowed me to stand behind the sacred desk and breathe the breath of life one more time. God I thank you that you will allow these your people to witness your awesome power. God I ask right now in the name of Jesus, that you would make every heart in this room that has not fully accepted you, uncomfortable so that through this message, you can speak to their heart and have them surrendering to your will and your way. God I know that this is youth day but lord help me to preach YOUR WORD to the young as well as the young at heart. Then God I ask that you will put Minister Lee in his seat and that you will rise inside of me, using me as a conduit to reach your children, with the aid of the Holy Spirit leading and guiding. Then God I ask by the authority of your word that you help me set the captives free, heal the broken hearted, and help the blind receive sight so that they may see their way through the storm, in Jesus’ immaculate we do pray. Jonah was cast from a ship, into a belly of a whale where Jonah spent three days and three nights in the whale's belly. This action is a symbolic foreshadow of Christ's entombment. Jonah was released from the whale and thrown on shore, sitting beneath a vine, the vine a symbol of Christ's resurrection. The vine is the wine which symbolizes Christ's blood.…

    Shark and the Goldfish

I chose “The Shark And The Goldfish” by Jon Gordon for my book report. This book is about positive ways to thrive during waves of change and follows a goldfish named Gordy who washes out into the ocean. Gordy has always been taken care of and fed daily, but doesn’t know how to act or get food when he is in the ocean. He meets a nice shark named Sammy who teaches him how to find food and take care of himself. The story is a lesson for how you never know what life is going to throw at you and when a new challenge or change comes your way, it is up to you to embrace the change and learn to grow instead of viewing the change as a negative. The lingering question in the beginning of the story is are you a shark or a goldfish and how you can learn to become a shark if you tend to have more goldfish like tendencies.…

The Book of Jonah is a special and interesting book in the Hebrew Bible. Unlike other eleven prophets’ books which focus on the prophecies from the Lord, the Book of Jonah is a book which focuses on the prophet himself. Jonah alone is the main human character in this book. The fours chapters are like four acts; together they tell a story about Jonah’s special travelling experience and portray the image of this running-away prophet. However, the Book of Jonah does not tell the readers about Jonah’s life before he receives the words from God about the great city of Nineveh; neither does it tell us what happens after God’s answer to Jonah’s question. Surely it does not necessary mean that what happened before the words come to Jonah and what happens…

This story of Jonah reminds us of the world as it stands today. God has called many men and women to preach unto a dying land that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Just as the Lord told the people in Jeremiah 35:15 “Again and again I sent all my servants, the prophets to you. They said, “Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them. Then you will live in the land I have given to you and your ancestors. But you have not paid attention or listened to me. “…

The American novelist Thomas Wolfe once wrote, "You can't go home again". Andrew Pham proved that wrong. "Andrew X. Pham, who came to the United States when he was ten years old as a 'boat person,' returned to Vietnam 20 years later on an extended bike trip in order to understand better his cultural identity" (Pearl 208). Despite the fact that Pham, like so many others of his generation, were forced to flee Vietnam, somehow they never lost the sense of identity with the homeland they only remembered as children. Pham, as an insightful writer, decided it was time for him to find out if there still exists a bridge between him as a Viet-American and his homeland.…
