First Day Of Thanksgiving Pros And Cons
CEE Thanksgiving has been viewed as a day of gratitude, spending time with family, and eating lots and lots of turkey. However, recently, Americans have seen Thanksgiving night as preparation for the next day which held many irrefutable offers in all stores. Instead of giving thanks for all the blessings they have, families are going over their strategies of how they are going to take advantage of the next day. Some argue that we’ve lost meaning of Thanksgiving as a nation. I agree with this statement because Black Friday has negatively impacted the masses so much that in order to prevent any mishaps from occurring the government might have to take a stand. Floods of customers wait impatiently, outside the doors of stores in hopes of being the first in receiving the best deals of the day. There have also been instances where people either get seriously injured or end up getting killed by a mob of impatient customers. According to Tara Kelly (2011), 61 year-old Walter Vance collapsed and died at the feet of Target shoppers on Black Friday of 2011. Another incident documented was of a woman that got run over by outside of Walmart in Pennsylvania (m.wfmz.com). She was severely injured, according to WFMZ-TV 69 News. These are only two examples of the innumerable accidents that happen in America between Thanksgiving eve and Black Friday. Despite all these mishaps occurring during these events, there are some that benefit from these events. The people who benefit from Thanksgiving and Black Friday deals are, of course, the customers but also the employees working at these stores.
