Rationale
Today there a lot of misunderstandings and stereotypes about the care of the elderly. Many people today see them as just people that need to be taken care of just to ensure that they don’t hurt themselves. Many of our elderly that are in homes typically don’t receive the best care as they would at home with loved ones. The health care that the elderly depends on the needs to be improved and the elderly men and women in rural communities need to be in a better position to access professional health care in order to improve their longevity and since of belonging.(Seymour 2007) This research will highlight the perceptions and attitudes towards workers that may be detrimental to the care of elderly people. This research identifies specific reasons why health care coverage and information in rural communities are so scarce. Many elderly men and women are just simply not knowledgeable of the services that are providing for them. “The persistence of negative attitudes perpetuate the myths, which is a tragedy when the majority of elderly people live at home, lead purposeful lives, and often see their contemporaries as old, but not themselves.” (Spier, B.E.,2005 page 34) This is very important time for all people not just the elderly. The most important objective of our President is to improve health-care among Americans. It is the hope of many Americans that this plan will improve health-care in rural areas and connect them to the rest of the metropolitan services that they need and deserve. This research will persuade all that are interested I the well-being of our elderly. “American study supported the evidence that attitudes to patient assessment and teaching are poorly regarded. Although nurses agree that elderly patients have a right to know and be taught, they thought their own older patients were too old to learn or to understand new information.”(jackson 2006)
