Final Project Reflection Paper
My final project consisted of making a digital history on my family’s journey in coming to America from Dominican Republic. The technology that I used to create my project was an iPhone, iMovie, and Youtube. The process I undertook had many challenges. I decided to make a movie, which meant I had to go home for a weekend to video my grandparents and father. I also had to gather documents and pictures to support my movie, which was very difficult due to my grandparents not having many photos from the 1970’s. My father, on the hand, had many pictures of his childhood, so I made him the focus of my movie. In addition, I had to research what was occurring in Dominican Republic during the 1970’s to explain why my grandparents wanted to leave. After I collected all the information, I spent days putting the movie together on iMovie. Unfortunately, iMovie failed me many times, which made my project time consuming. One of my recordings of my father talking about his experience deleted by accident and I could not go home again to record him. Corresponding, I had to record my …show more content…
The challenges that I faced are everyday challenges for a teacher. For example, I had technology fail me many time while making my final project, but I found solutions that helped me overcome the issues. Today, technology is becoming a huge part of a child’s education and sometimes it does fail to work. As a teacher, I will have to find ways to continue my lesson the best that I can. In my project, one of my recordings of my father talking about his experience deleted by accident and I was unable to go home to record him again. Instead, I had to record my father over the phone, which had a lot of static, but it was able to get my message across. This is exactly what I would do if something does not work as planned in the classroom. I would have to substitute my original plan with a new

In January 2013, Sterling Household Products Company (Sterling), a highly successful manufacturer and marketer of household goods, was experiencing low growth rates for unit volume, sales, and profits which led management to seek expansion into higher growth industries. Between 2010 and 2012, sales had a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of only 2.2%, sales volumes in units were less than 1% per year, operating expenses rising faster than inflation, and retailers with high buying power (The 10 largest customers accounted for 55% of sales). Sterling identified the health care infection-control market as an attractive sector with high growth opportunities, and the product lines were a natural extension of Sterling’s current production. Sterling found its ideal investment opportunity through Montagne Medical Instruments Company’s (Montagne) germicidal, sanitation, and antiseptic products unit (GS&A Unit). The unit was profitable with an operating margin of 18.9% in 2012 and sales grew over 5% annually the past two years. However it was not a core focus for Montagne and required scarce resources and time, so Montagne was eager to sell the unit.…

In today's world technology began to play a major role in people's lives in many ways. Technologies such as computers, cell phones, iPads, etc. give people an opportunity to get away from the real world. Other technologies, especially medical technologies have advanced so much that people are able to get DBS, deep brain stimulation, which is a surgery that implants a medical device, to improve their brain and to help them live a better life. But after the surgery does the person become more or less authentic? In Lauren Slater’s essay “Who Holds the Clicker?”, Slater studies the symptoms and experience of thirty-six years old Mario Della Grotta, who is diagnosed with obsessive – compulsive disorder, or OCD. He suffers from a live of looped-loop in which he repeats actions fearing incompleteness. In Sherry Turkle’s essay, “Alone Together,” Turkle explores the idea of authenticity and how in the future robots could offer humans better relationships as well as a better life. We ask how much technological control is too much control and whether these growing advancements in technology shape our ethical choices and issues. Society is vulnerable to technology; technology meets our human needs and because of that technology has complete control of us today. One can argue that after DBS surgery people become more authentic because they are new and improved. But in actuality, chemical and surgical “improvements,” especially of the brain, make people less authentic, but are justified if the improvements are medically necessary.…

Hearing Nurse John is not as common as hearing Nurse Betty or Nurse Jane. But recently more men have decided to take the nursing career path and become male nurses, also referred to as “murses.” The article “I Want Your Job, Lady” in Time states that “in a sour economy, men are flocking to nursing, child care and other ‘female’ professions” (Cullen et al., 2003). The nursing profession needs to take steps to erase completely the gender-bias that still exists because although nursing is less discriminatory than it has been in the past, for too long the stereotype that nursing is a career only for women, kept men from entering the profession, but with the current acute shortage of nurses, the profession needs everyone with a calling--regardless of gender; in fact, in specific settings such as a mental hospitals, male nurses because of their greater physical strength are in particularly high demand.…
