Final Exam: Essay sectionGrade: _____________

Learning English this semester has been fun me. I learned a lot of things about the English language. I also discovered a lot of things about myself in respect to learning English. I was exposed to the language early but until now I am still amazed at how many things I still need to learn.
As a second language learner, particularly one who was also forced to learn another dialect, English has become confusing to me. My first dialect is Hiligaynon but I also had to learn Cebuano because I studied in Cebu. Because of this, my words get all mixed-up sometimes and I had to think both in Hiligaynon and Cebuano, which makes it complicated. This is true with my English language learning too. My words and sentences just mixes together, like the two dialects I speak, thus giving me a hard time constructing correct sentences sometimes. It was no surprise for me when I finally realized that my weaknesses were in writing correct sentences and speaking the language. These two skills will be the focus of my English-improvement plan for the next months.
For my writing skills, I had several things I plan to do. First, I need to read more books with exercised at the end of each lessons to practice about the topic discussed. Honestly, the workbook in class helped me a lot in my improvement of the language. I should need to find more workbooks to answer. Second, the internet is a source of a lot of useful information and I plan to maximize it for my benefit. I have found Oxford dictionary's website and I find it helpful for my improvement. I believe there are still a lot of good interactive sites I can find. It will also be a good motivator if it has games and exercised to practice on. Lastly, I will start writing in my blog again. I have had several blogs but I just forget about it. I believe that practicing to

I got the idea because my cousin and I were playing a game where you had to multitask. So that’s how I came up with the idea. I thought that the kids would be the best at multitasking because since all the kids are still in school they might know more. I conducted the experiment by first gathering my subjects and my materials. Then I explained to all of my subject what they were going to do, I started the experiment and wrote everything they did during the test. Finally wrote all the data on the data table. The result was adults were the best at…

Langston Hughes' stories deal with and serve as a commentary of conditions of African Americans during the Harlem Renaissance. As Ostrom explains, "To a great degree, his stories speak for those who are voiceless, cheated, abused, or ignored because of race or class." (51). Hughes' stories speak of the unfortunate African-Americans neglected and overlooked by a prejudiced society. The recurring theme of how powerlessness leads to violence is personified by the actions of Sargeant in "On the Road", old man Oyster in "Gumption", and the robber in "Why, You Reckon?"…

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.…

Elders in a family often tell youngsters stories of their past. Moreover, Steven Zeitlin, Amy Kotkin, and Holly Cutting Baker, assert in “Family Stories” that “Family stories are usually based on real incidents which become embellished over the years” (10). These stories tend to change as people age and experience various situations. Canfield’s short story “Sex Education” depicts Aunt Minnie, a woman who faced a traumatic sexual experience as a teenager, telling her story to an audience of younger generations at three different stages of her life; each account is told in a different manner as she experiences various situations that involve sexuality, namely experiences with her son Jake. Through the plot’s development of Aunt Minnie differently telling a terrifying experience thrice as time passes, and characterizing her differently, from immature to serene, as she goes through life, Canfield conveys the theme that time and experience may change one’s story.…

It is in the book of Acts that we find details about how the gifts are bestowed to believers. Acts 2:38 says, “And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” This couldn’t be any clearer. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to those who repent of their sins and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. It is at that point that the Holy Spirit indwelt the believers at the time of the early church. Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses” This also makes it clear that the gifts are given through the Holy Spirit and not by any other means.…
