“Pulp Fiction” Film Review
When giving a film and evaluation it is obvious that acting, setting and plot would fit in every gender, however to evaluate a crime movie the expectations and feedback changes. Crime movies are known for having a flexible plot that allows mystery and tension build up, characters and acting that will maintain their role alive and transfer emotions and dialog that stays clear and understandable. Writing that is able to keep the audience concentrated through long dialogs and it also has its unexpected twists. There are other basic requirements for example: camerawork, costume design and sound editing. Only a few movies have had the privilege to this day be considered works of art in the “crime” gender, movies like “the Godfather” or “Scarface” have been critically acclaimed and have become classics. Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” has been critically acclaimed and became a cult movie instantly because of its unique and the catching differences. The movie follows multi-story non-linear plot that ensures to keep you wondering about each scenario as it switches between characters that often cross paths. Although the movie was made only on a eight and a half million dollars budget it features acclaimed actors like: John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman and Bruce Willies, 3 of them were nominated for academy awards. Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed “Pulp Fiction” and received an Academy Award in the category Best Writing, the film received many other international awards.
The Film follows in the day of the life of different criminals in a non-linear way; characters cross paths at unexpected times and a series of events become the domino effect. The story of the film is like nothing you’ve seen before, it takes many turns that seem to lead nowhere but have been put there to form part of the big picture. The fact that the movie is about two hours and half long it doesn’t mean that you will be caught

To follow up Reservoir Dogs Tarantino wrote and directed Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction was released in 1994 at the Cannes Film Festival. There it won the Palm d 'Ore, known as the Golden Palm. Tarantino also won an Academy Award that year for best screenplay. Pulp Fiction is a film with a chopped up story line that is shown out of sequence. It is rather controversial because it is extremely violent (which is Tarantino 's style) and has some racist remarks. The film also credited Tarantino with the comeback of John Travolta who was one of the stars of the movie (Tarantino).…

As most potential viewers know, this film is based on diaries and letters to home written by Ernesto "Che" Guevara during a motorcycle and foot tour of a significant portion of South America during the early 1950s, years before Guevara achieved international renown as a Communist and Latino revolutionary. Thus, the film functions as an attempt to get at the heart of the person who preceded the myth. The film is therefore difficult to judge as pure cinema. Is this, on its own merits, a great film? Or is it a great film about Che Guevara? Interestingly, the person I saw this film with knew absolutely nothing about the subject of the film before it started, and did not connect Ernesto Guevara with Che Guevara until very late in the film. Her reaction was interesting. Until she realized that it was about Che, she says that she considered it a decent but only slightly above average "road" picture, but it gained considerably in her estimation once she realized who the film was…

Her father, Néstor Kraken (Darín), is a marine biologist who has written a book on sexuality and makes a living treating wounded animals found by fishermen. Before taking this course, I had yet to known how much thought directors and producers put in upon creating a movie. From the three different movies that we have seen so far in the class, I have chosen to write on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I watched this movie without knowledge of the storyline or any expectations. As we start to understand the movie, I came to think that the theme of the movie was “fate” that brings people back together as the heaven-destined them to. At the end of the movie though, I was stunned- not only by the surprising ending but also by the narrative design, mise-en-scene, and cinematography. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind creatively uses a non-traditional structure, colors…

I was raised all my life in the theater and I have taken lessons of everything that has to do with fine arts. Two of my passions are dance and sing, that is why my interest has been created for musicals. One time I saw this musical for the first time, I knew it has something special, but I was a little girl and I did not realized the meaning. Once I grew up and I could understand what was happening this musical become part of my life. The musical I love is RENT, a Broadway musical and Tony awards winner, that has been adapted in a movie. The genre of this musical is drama, musical, romance and I could say social issues. The story and concept was created by the actor, musician and producer Jonathan Larson, and also he was inspired by the french scene "La vie de Bohème" by Henri Murger , that has been also adapted to opera called "La Bohème" by Giacomo Puccini. The director and producer of the movie RENT is Chris Columbus and the screenplay was written by Stephen Chbosky. The movie was filmed on 2005 and they used the first cast from the Broadway musical. The principal actors are Anthony Rapp (Mark), Adam Pascal (Roger), Rosario Dawson (Mimi), Jesse L. Martin (Tom Collins), Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Angel), Idina Menzel (Maureen), Tracie Toms (Joanne), Taye Diggs (Benny).…

In the Random House Webster’s College Dictionary one definition of bamboozled reads: “to deceive or get the better of by underhandedness; hoodwink (p. 105)”. In Spike Lee’s movie, Bamboozled (Lee, 2000), he explores how society buys into the stereotypes of African American in the media. Bamboozled (Lee, 2000), is a satirical film that explores many different genres; including drama, comedy, perhaps black comedy, and music. Lee's basing the movie in satire form was a brilliant move because in it he was able to push the envelope harder than drama or straight comedy would have allowed.…

Grand Torino was a film released in December 2008. The film was directed, produced, and starred by Clint Eastwood. "Nick Schenk's screenplay wasn't written specifically for him, but after seeing the film it's impossible to imagine it with anyone else." (Charity) Schenk became acquainted with the history and the culture of the Hmong in the 90's working in a Minnesota factory. In addition, Schenk learned how the Hmong had sided with the South Vietnamese forces and their U.S allies during the Vietnam war, only to wind up in refugee camps at the mercy of the northern communist forces when American troops pulled out. Years later Schenk decided he wanted to develop a story involving a widowed Korean war veteran trying to handle the changes in his neighborhood when he decided to place a Hmong family next door creating a culture clash; where he ran into problems was how to develop such a story. Needless to say Schenk eventually created a masterpiece with Clint Eastwood as Walt Kowalski Bee Vang as Thao Vang Lor, a young Hmong teenager Ahney Her as Sue Lor, Thao's older sister Christopher Carley as Father Janovich.…

Having a story line that does not follow just one character or one plot, the director tells of three stories that are intertwined of gangsters, crooks, and power that are all filled with their own twists. The conversations between these characters seems out of sorts for the type of people that they are. Relatable characters are used in this film to give the views a sense of understanding, like they know the characters. The director added even more to the movie by making some of the events rather unimaginable, like they could only be something that would happen in Hollywood. Considerable time is exhibited understanding, getting to know, and relating to the characters, forming a more dramatic perception for the audience. As character Mia Wallace would suggest, this film commands the audience to “not be square” and to step outside of the box. Pulp Fiction is an astoundingly thrilling masterpiece; a suspenseful crime drama, harnessing the elements of glorified crime, impactful scenes, immorality, and underworld settings. The film commences to another level, assisted by black comedy, to portray improbable coincidences and unconventional satirical and surprising humor.…

The film is based on the perfect heist gone terribly wrong. It based on six criminals who are brought together by a crime boss to carry out a jewelry robbery. The film starts with the strangers meeting and getting fake names to keep them from becoming close to one another. Each criminal was given a name of a color which I felt was extremely unique. This well thought out plan by Joe Cabot the crime boss was to ensure the robbers concentrated on the task at hand. It was never thought that anything could go wrong and it would be a successful robbery. Then on the day of the robbery when the police show up the same time as the criminals the blood bath begins. Naturally this causes Panic as the police and criminals get in a violent shoot out that kills civilians and police and also some of the criminals. The plot thickens when they meet back up at the designated point and old warehouse. Tempers flare and they suspect that someone is a police informant. The film ends in a blood bath with the only survivor being the jackass of the group.…

Pulp Fiction was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino in 1994. Winning an Academy Award, Pulp Fiction is 20th century classic very popular amongst the generations that came after being released. Tarantino achieves humor through a well written and witty dialogue that uses classical narrative elements such as parallelism. Characters wander between the four overlapping narratives. He deliberately confuses the audience with fragmentation of the narratives which lets us create the story in our own mind giving us a sense of delight. I watched Pulp Fiction to be able to write this appreciation essay thinking it would be a lame, old movie about drug addicts and after hearing from various sources that it is a good film, I realized, no they are wrong, this is a great film that goes further than drugs and not too harsh violence. Pulp Fiction keeps viewers intrigued in a unique style. The movie is very layered, and by layered I mean each really interesting part in each scene (yes, there is one in just about every scene) doesn’t seem forced like in some movies, instead Pulp Fiction was written to come off more natural and has a seemingly charming flow for a crime movie. This film has just about everything important in a movie to hook somebody; containing quotable dialogue throughout the entire film, humor, cringing violence, intensity, intimacy, romance, action, and vulgarity, Pulp Fiction is said to be one of Tarantino’s best films for its exemplification in puzzlement and mystification. Throughout the movie there is a briefcase that ties in to all the events and each time it is opened there is a light shone upon the characters faces where they then go pale with amazement or shock, though the audience is never able to see what is inside the briefcase, only a handful of viewers will be able to put together that the light coming out of the briefcase is the lost soul. Tarantino’s technique creates a blissful…
