Figurative Speech In The Bible
After reading the assigned chapters I learned that the bible uses a lot of figurative speech throughout all of the chapters. For example in the Proverbs, Chapter 6, line 6 states, “Go to the ant, you lazybones; consider its ways and be wise”. This section is a perfect example of figurative speech because the “lazy bones” is a metaphor for a person. Some of the genres that I recognized is history, poetry, narrative, and the future. Kings is an example of the genre history, Psalms is an example of poetry, and lastly the future genre is presented in the Revelation. I believe God chose to communicate through different genres so that the bible can be appealing to a worldwide audience. For example, some people find it easier to communicate with
