Feigned Death Of Juliet Analysis
Frederic Leighton’s painting “The Feigned Death of Juliet” portrays the scene in which Juliet wakes up “dead” on her wedding day. The painting is brighter on Juliet’s bed, since it is the main focus of the painting – Paris’s face is also brightened in order to emphasize his expression of sadness, which may prove that he truly loved Juliet. The expressions of Lady Capulet, Lord Capulet and the Nurse show deep sadness. At the same time, Friar Lawrence does not show any emotion, but seriousness – he knows Juliet took the poison he gave her and she is going to wake up in 24 hours, this was a part of their plan.
