There is a definite effect of what the last presidential election has done for some Texas counties. In 23 0f the 25 largest counties employment declined from september of 2008 to september 2009(bls.gov). It would then be a thought that if there is not certain change in job availability in Texas there will be some people that will want to vote for someone new come next election. I think there is more fear in global elections than here in the states. For examples this october on the Ivory Coast there will be elections for a new president and they have already started disarming groups and replacing police and other officials in fear of wide spread violence. In Kenya during the 2008 presidential elections more than 275 people were killed and dozens burned to death in an outburst of violence(npr.org).Closer to home in Mexico not only fear tactics but the actual murder of a gubernatorial candidate. When on the way to an election rally gunmen open fire on a candidate(latindispatch.com). But even in American history the 1860 presidential election brought upon a fierce war. There has been minor violence in the states during arguments over health care in Miami a man was hit by another man(jamaicans.com). During the the 1860 elections the fight over states rights and slavery was …show more content…
Most of us pay more attention to the four year elections because that is when we have the ability to choose a president. The information on the candidates helps us formulate an opinion of those running for office and who we will probably vote for.The question is do we get all the information that there is and are we making the best decision possible. It is very possible we only see the advertisement of the two main parties democratic or republican but there are others there is the libertarian party, the green party, the constitution party just to name a few(politics1.com). So as we look for information about the main characters running for office where do we find it. We get most of our information about the candidates from television advertisements in fact over 50 percent of all advertising is done on the major television networks(marketingblurb.com). Over 450 million dollars was spent on advertising with the two main opponents spending the most John McCain 125,530,148 and Barack Obama

That feeling is Sirus; where it dwells and what it is very capable of creating. Something methodical, patient, and unnervingly unpredictable to all but your most primordial traces of instinct. It will play fingers across the laces of your subconscious, steering and influencing just beyond the edge of your notice. For all of the things it is both capable and incapable of, its strongest and perhaps most dangerous ability will always be in its powers of…

This week’s reading material covered the most important part in changing particular behavior through touching people’s fear toward specific behavior. The combination of three theories could lead to positive outcomes. The first theory is health belief model, the protection motivation theory, and parallel process model. The last two theories are communications theories. The health belief model explains how perceived threat affected by perceived severity and perceived susceptibility. Then, determines modifying factors that could influence in both perceived threat and expected net gain. As well as cues to action, in addition, the likelihood of action considers the motivation assessment for people to either engage in particular behavior or not.…

Are people controlled by their fears or pleasures? According to George Orwell’s view in the novel 1984, people are controlled by their fears. Some fears may be caused by wars, earthquakes, and many other fearful objects. I strongly stand with Orwell and his opinion rather than Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World, and Neil Postman, author of Amusing ourselves to Death, and their beliefs that people are controlled by their pleasures. I believe people are controlled by their fears.…

Death is inevitable; People are all going to die at one point. Kagan in his book asks whether there is life after death. Since death comes after life, it paves for life again or is it eternity. Kagan thinks that death can be, and very often is, bad for the person who dies (and this is so because death deprives that person of the goods of life). However, Kagan denies that death is not bad. It is reasonable or appropriate for people to fear death. Kagan claims that only if people have three conditions. The first is the object of fear is bad. People are fear of death because of the badness of death. Death is defined as a bad thing because if people died, all things will not exist. If a person does afraid of one thing, the thing must be bad. Put…

Fear is defined as an unpleasant emotion that a person senses that something is dangerous. In the first chapter of the book written by Al Gore’s Assault on Reason: “The Politics of Fear” has good valid points about fear to the audience. This is because Al Gore uses a lot of pathos, logos, and ethos in the first chapter. Al Gore first starts off with attacking George W. Bush about many things. Al Gore does seem to convince the audience that George W. Bush used fear through out his whole presidency to scare the citizens of the United State of America. Gore does put out a lot of facts in the first chapter on Assault on reason, but to me it seemed like it was opinion based because Gore was explaining everything during Bush’s presidency, but didn’t have all the facts. This article definitely interests the audience because of everything that Bush did during his presidency and the audience wants to know the truth. With all the ethos, pathos, and logos that Gore put out, Gore did put up a good argument towards fear.…
