Fast food and homemade food

Homemade food is better than fast food because it's healthy, cheaper, and you control what's in your food. Food is the most important thing that keeps us alive so we have to choose wisely on what we eat. But some people choose to eat meals that are giving to you in less than five minutes than a meal that takes thirty or more minutes. Fast food and homemade food also have their similarities because you could choose what you want to eat and when you want it.

Fast food attracts people because its ready to go anytime of the day and many people don't have that time to actually make a meal. Many people rely on fast food because it's convenient to them and you could find a fast food place at almost any corner in a town. Everyone is busy you're a college student, you work a lot, or your kids are keeping you busy so you are always in a rush so you don't have the time to make a actual meal but that doesn't mean your eating habits have to be a rush.

When you're making food at home you have control of the ingredients going in and what's not going in. When eating fast food you don't know if its health because you don't know what is being put in the food you're eating. For example, you could go to McDonalds and get a hamburger from the dollar menu or make your own at home, they both look the same and are probably going to be the same size but the differences between them are the calories in the hamburger and the tastes. By making your own you know what kind of percent of fat is in the meat. Almost all fast food restaurants look for deals so they would buy meat that has more percent of fat because it's cheaper than meat that has less percent of fat. People keep feeding their kids fast food but what they don't think about is it could lead their children to obesity in the future. By feeding them home made food you will have more control of their weight and they will have more energy throughout the day.

Sarah Muntel also notes in her article Fast Food: Is it the Enemy (2012); “Most Americans are overscheduled and overcommitted and do not make time to plan or prepare meals. However, you can always find a fast food restaurant every time you turn the corner. Now you can choose from greasy burgers, crunchy tacos or a sugary drink at most intersections. Quick and easy foods are also cheap, which appeals to so many individuals. You can order dollar cheeseburgers, dollar sodas and supersize items for just pennies. People see a value in cheap food and get it with fast food and claim it is cheaper to eat at a restaurant than prepare a meal at home” (p. 34). Fast food has provided people with a quick and efficient way to fill…

Fast food is unhealthy; leads to obesity and disease, but the convenience and addictiveness of it contributes to the laziness of the general population. Most people eat fast food for the lack of time then having prepare a decent meal. It seems as though there is a fast food restaurant on every street corner while driving home. The general population oversees the fact that eating nothing but these greasy foods will attribute to weight gain. Fast food is addictive for the convenience of it and in which it tastes so good. Additionally, the variety of fast food restaurants provides timely manners for people with different work hours; compared to whom works a normal nine to five job. For instance, people try dieting and then will starve their body by not eating anything at all or just salads that will go nowhere fast. The human body needs heavy calories to burn off and produce healthy enzymes and glycogen. Specifically, this helps produce bigger muscles and thicker bone density. Eating nothing at all will still not help a person get healthier because the human brain needs carbohydrates and proteins to function properly. Naturally, eating too much fast food leads to obesity which leads to diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure; which then leads to laziness. Laziness is one of the biggest factors to weight gain. What a vicious circle this is; being too tired to cook after working all day, the convenience of fast food then laziness and furthermore, the unnecessary results of obesity and…

Homemade food is often treated as a privilege. Low cost of fast food and its nutrition value become a solution for many families who have neither time not money to cook at home. Warnings that fast food is not healthy do not stop Americans who treat it as an essential part of their daily diet. As a result, the prevalence of obese and overweight people plummets. If we look at what is behind attractive pricing strategies and delicious tastes offered at fast food chains, all facts support the idea that homemade food is a better choice. The articles _Is Junk Food Really Cheaper?_ by Mark Bittman and _Fast Food Versus Slow Food_ by Nancy Folbre provide enough facts to motivate people to cook at home. Out of these two articles, Folbre 's specific approach to argumentation makes her writing extremely persuasive and logical advocating cooking at home.…

McDonalds, Burger King, Jack in the Box, etc. will price their burgers or chicken nuggets at a low price. Compared to salads and whole foods, fast food will be much cheaper. Lower income families don’t have enough money to buy a lot of ingredients for a home-cooked meal, so they have to rely on fast food to feed their families. This fast food isn’t necessarily healthy for them either, but it’s all they can afford. Honestly, this pains me. Processed foods are so popular among so many people, whether it’s because they’re lazy to cook or they’re in a rush, but processed foods shouldn’t be taking over their diets. I read a section about economic effects of the industrial food system on www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. It states, “Convenience foods also are popular among food manufacturers because these products are very high earners. The majority of these foods are high in sugar, salt, saturated fat, or total fat, or they are of low nutrient density. This proliferation of processed and convenience foods means that food corporations have increasingly shaped what and how consumers eat.” Fast food companies and other businesses are highly fond of processed foods because consumers would rather buy fast food than cook at home. Let’s face it, we all have our lazy days, but if you have a child, don’t let processed foods take over their…

One of the most significant reasons for the popularity of fast food restaurants is that, fast foods are inexpensive. Fast food is cheap because the production is streamlined; means fast food can be produce in huge bulk, so that the quality becomes uniform and satisfy huge demand. In addition to that, the cost of the ingredients of fast food is cheaper than whole meal food. Emil Brindal (April 2010, p. 17-18) stated that most people…
