Fashion 2020
FASHION DESIGNER Romero Bryan and model Sam Branson joined the list of internet entrepreneurs, actresses and sportsmen and women that are expected to be the country's biggest financial successes by the year 2020. The list, compiled by Philip Beresford, who has extensive experience of compiling annual 'Rich Lists', heralded computer whiz Carl Churchill as the list's leading financial light, estimating that his internet company, DMC, which has just achieved a £1 million turnover, will be worth £100 million by 2020. The pillow-lipped star of Pirates of the Caribbean, Keira Knightley, came second, as Beresford predicted that she has the potential to replicate the success - and £50 million fortune - of Catherine Zeta-Jones. Branson, the 18-year-old son of Virgin boss Richard Branson, currently acts as the face of Ozwald Boateng and is expected to make £10 million over the next 17 years. And Bryan, who at 19 years old has already made clothes for Samantha Mumba (who made it to 8th place on the list), Beyonce, Cameron Diaz and Victoria Beckham, is in joint fifth position (equal to 15-year-old racing driver Alexander Sims and 17-year-old actor Jamie Bell), with an estimated fortune of £30 million by 2020. The London College of Fashion student said Beresford's predictions were little comfort however, admitting that: "I worry about how I'll pay my bus fare to college." (September 1 2003, AM)

In “The Fashion Industry” by Hannah Berry, it shows that ads make us free to be and individual. She states that women are always told what products they should use to be beautiful and that two Clarks and Sorrel ads help encourage women to break free from this standard “beauty mold”.Berry uses a lot of description to help depict a mental image of the ads before showing a picture of the ad itself. The Clarks ad shows a band geek playing the trumpet and the Sorrel ad shows a woman wearing devil-red boots with a shotgun in her hand. The ad with the band geek shows that their products will serve to help support what an individual loves doing while keeping them original.…

Fashion is said to be evolutionary and not revolutionary. This was not true in the 20th century. Fashion revolutionized America and the rest of the world during this time period. Also, during this time period fashion evolved tremendously. New fabrics and innovations were introduced to America. When World War I came about, people had to sacrifice their clothing for the men at war and they dressed more conservative. Christian Dior changed all of that when he came out with the "New Look." This look consisted of draped gowns with a lot of fabric being used. What Christian Dior was basically saying was that we should not have to sacrifice how we dress. In the 20th century, new synthetic fibers were invented, making new fabrics come to life like rayon and polyester. New technology changed many different ways we made our garments toward printing and construction.…

One also saw the large use of feathers as a part of the fashion. Long, knee-length coats with loose sleeves, caught on really well in the 1950s. Among the different fabrics, silk was widely used and furs are also an important place in the wardrobes of most women. There are some positive effects of fashion style. First, fashion plays an increasingly important role in an individual’s life because it is considered as a means of self-expression. Fashion is about your own personal style, it not about looking the same like a supermodel. The clothes and accessories that man or women wear help them to identify with a group of others-whether it is a lifestyle, profession, a religion, or an attitude. Fashion does not necessarily mean glamour, or the urge to follow the current trends. It is more a way of life, a reflection of inner beauty not only in fashion style. Just be confident with yourself. Becoming popular is not an issue as long as you are confident with your looks. Ignore all the size and shape of supermodels body and practicing a healthy diet in your life.
