Family Interview
Family History Interview
The person I choose to interview was my mother Elizabeth . The reason I chose to interview her was that I wanted to gain a closer bond with her. She is the closet relative living from which I could gain the most knowledge.
(Q11) She was raised by both of her parents. (Q1) Her father Marlyn , was the Mayor or Morgantown, WV, as well taught law at WVU. Her Mother was Jerry , a graduate of WVU with a bachelor’s degree in zoology. Jerry was a woman of many talents. She sold a clothing line out of their house as well as being a housewife, mother, and secretary of their local Methodist church. (Q2) Betty grew up in Morgantown, WV, in an exclusive area called South Park. The neighborhood was a well kept area with manicured yards, brick roads, and larger houses. It was a great area to grow up with many middle to higher income professional families, which maintained close family ties.
(Q4, 5) Betty’s earliest memories of childhood were her many neighborhood friends that played outside until dark during the summer. In the winter with her friends, they played many board games. She also enjoyed alone time in her room with many hobbies. Another early memory was attending church every Sunday with her family. After church they would go to the local dairy store and purchase homemade ice cream cones before going home.
(Q6, 7) My mother earned an allowance for doing chores such as cleaning her bedroom, setting the table up for dinner and cleaning up when dinner was finished, as well as helping her father wash the family car and cutting the grass. Her allowance consisted of ten cents per grade level and she was paid weekly. After sixth grade she was no longer paid an allowance due to all the extracurricular activities she participated in during junior high and high school. She saved half of her allowance and spent the rest on wooden cap guns, wooden airplanes, and candy.
Childhood games consisted of board games such as Life, Monopoly, Chinese Checkers,

My cultural interview was with a coworker, 28 years of age and of Hispanic descent. While conducting the interview I learned a lot about the Hispanic culture. Many Hispanics like to be called Latino (a). Some do not like to be referred to as Mexican when they are from other countries other than Mexico. Hispanics also use slang within their culture just like African Americans. Within the culture the male is the dominant figure in the household. All the decisions that affect the family go through the father. If there is no father in the house, the oldest son fulfills that role. The older son may drop out of school so that they may assist the mother at the house in the absence of the father. Many Hispanics usually marry fairly young and start to raise a family. When they get older they usually do not marry, but live together like husband and wife. The average number of members within the family is 7 including the mother and father. The mother is usually the caregiver and stays home to look after the children. The oldest daughter steps in and helps the mother out whenever she can. The grandparents are considered the second mom and dad. Their cousins are regarded as an extension of their siblings. My interviewee has 2 brothers who she is very close to. If her brothers tell her to do something even at age 28 she really makes sure she follows their directives. Her mother is divorced from her father, but he still plays an active part in her and her brothers’ life. The relationship between the mother and father is still very close even though they are not married. The relationship between the mother’s new boyfriend and ex- husband is very cordial and respectful in an attempt to maintain a loving and positive environment for their family.…

    Rebellion In Pleasantville

If these customs were challenged everything seemed to fall apart. Prior to David and Jennifer arriving, Betty Parker was a picture perfect house wife. When things in Pleasantville began to change Betty refused to cave in to the changing society and stuck with her, and her husbands, beliefs. However, not everything remained pleasant. Betty knew that it was terrible to go against the Pleasantville customs, but something inside her was telling her to change. Firstly, Betty was introduced to many new concepts from Jennifer such as sleeping in one bed, intercourse, and how to please herself. As Betty put her newly learnt knowledge to the test she began to see colour and a tree instantaneously burst into flames. The fire symbolized that this was just the start of something big and that there was much change, along with conflicts, to come. Spectators observed the fire in awe and no one really knew what was going on. This was the first time that something imperfect had happened in the town. Secondly, Betty forgot to cook dinner for her husband one night. “Where’s my dinner?”, was a phrase that caused panic in the community. Betty’s husband looked everywhere for his wife, but Betty was no where to be seen. The imagine of the perfect wife was shattered in Mr. Parker’s eyes when his wife left the house the next day…

Mexican culture is colorful and rich, enriched with pride and heritage. Family values and strong moral constitution have sustained the culture for hundreds of years. I have had the pleasure to interact and consort with the Mexican culture most of my life in the business that I'm in. Dedication and hard work are the stables that bound the stigma of the Mexican culture. Being that I truly honor the culture I have chosen a friend of mine that I work with to perform my interview upon. My interviewee is Maria Dimas; she was born in Cancun Mexico but has lived most of her life in the United States.…

Betty was the mom of Mary and Bud’s house hold. Betty was not afraid of change and being modern. The only thing Betty was afraid to face was her husband, being that she now had color. Betty was afraid to face her husband being a totally new person and understanding the modern lifestyle. Every time Mary and Bud would come, she would ask them what they have done. When Betty brought up Lovers’ Lane to the kids, Mary then had to describe what sex was to her mother. After learning about sex, Betty then learned how to masturbate. When she was masturbating in the bath tub, the bird and tree outside turned to color and tree caught on fire. Throughout Betty’s experience in change to the modern world, I think the common theme of change for her was…

As a young child I have always been the kind of person who has hoped and prayed for great things happen to me, whether it be a passing grade on a test or just hoping to do well in life. There’s a saying that “Hoping and praying are easier to do but do not produce as good results as hard work”. Well I feel that I can really relate to this because there have been many times in my life where it has been easier to just hope and pray that everything works in my favor, instead of having to put all the necessary effort into succeeding. But as I have learned throughout my life, everything comes from hard work. There is no way to deviate from the path of hard work. Being disciplined and working hard is what really determines your success in life.…

Society makes judgment if we should or should not have children (Lamanna & Riedmann, 2012, p.226). We want to make good choices in life. Some people may think starting a family is a walk in the park, but this isn’t true. Starting a family is a lifetime commitment. Parents are not given a manual on raising a child, therefore being a parent is a learning process and it is something that requires a lot of time and dedication. Even though, there are no set rules on what to do when starting a family of your own, society expects everyone to know the do’s and don’ts or being able to determine right from wrong while still trying to raise a family off your own personal beliefs and values. Just know that not everyone is going to agree with the way on how to raise a family but as long as you are living up to the best of you expectations that best suits your children and spouse than that’s all that matters. Just sit back and observe the many different parenting styles and what each family contributes to one another and you will be surprised at how much the very when it comes to ethnicity, background, and race.…

Based on the information given I see this as an act of terrorism because of where the explosion went off. Any explosion on a military base cannot be defined as a terrorist attack versus just an attack. In this case attacking the community center means you are looking at killing not just members of the U.S. military but also the families that reside there. Not knowing the history of the militants in Flooa and neither how they classify themselves you would not want to immediately put the stamp of terrorism on any explosive activity. With the area being attacked and the civilian community targeted just as much as the military I definitely qualify this as terrorism.…
