Family History Research Paper
My 10th grade U.S. History class at Center Point High School was presented with the challenge of producing a digital family history project. The digital device could be anyone they choose. Any point-of-view was acceptable, as long as it was relevant to their family. The rationale of this assessment was to allow my students to explore their family history and develop and expand their use of digital technology in the educational process.
The project was based on their family history. The viewpoints that they opted to relate to their family history was creatively theirs. The instructions included the encouragement to be creative and demonstrate their knowledge of technology-based presentations.

The Klem family was part of this wave of immigration, arriving sometime in the mid to late 1880s. They left their native Lithuania and made the long journey across the great oceans. A prominent family in American political history I would explore with my students to get them excited about researching their own genealogies is the genealogies of the Kennedy family. When researching the Kennedy’s genealogy, a resource I would use in my classroom is abcnews.com where all the information about the Kennedy’s family history is easily assessable and available for free. This interactive website provides the Kennedy family tree which begins with the first generation of Kennedys, Joseph Patrick Kennedy and Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald. This website allows you to continue researching about this family by showing four generations of Kennedy’s. By clicking on the second-generation tab you are able to see all the children Joseph and Rose had and who they married. Once you click on a certain child like John Kennedy you can see his wife Jacqueline and their children and whom they married in the third generation tab and finally in the fourth generation tab you are able to see what would be Johns and Jacqueline’s grandchildren. This website allows you to go back at any time and look at the different aspect of the family tree by going back to any generation and clicking on a different child. This shows the students how large and complex genealogies can be. This website will get the students interested in genealogy and get them to make connections to people they already know. For example, I would go back to the second-generation tab and change John Kennedy to Eunice Kennedy…

I learned two new interesting things about my family history while doing this project. One thing I learned about my family 's history is that my grandpa fought in World War II. He was in the Air Force. He was actually in France for a little while during the war. After he served his 4 years he went back to the Air Force and taught rookie pilots what to do in an air warfare situation. The other new thing I learned about my family history is that my step-grandma 's daughter, Katie, was a really good high school softball player. Her team won state once and the following year they placed 2nd in nationals. She played 1st base. She would 've played in college but she tore her rotator cuff so she couldn 't play anymore. That is what interesting things I learned about my family history while doing this project.…
