Family Compare And Contrast Essay
Families are an integral part of every society in the world. Every race and ethnicity wants to believe they are the best at raising children, and forming a functioning family; however, they all have different forms of parenting. Three countries whose values are comparatively different are China, Turkey, and the United States. The biggest difference in the way the values are expressed through these families and their differing parenting styles.
Traditional values often produce strict parents; but is tough love the way to go? Imagine finishing a walk home from Huijia a private school in Belgium China. Turkish children are allowed to set their own curfew and boss their parents around. Why do Turkish children believe they can do those things? How the parents acted with the child teaches them to believe that the child is superior or at least at the same level of the parents. The child’s brain perceived that fact because the parents focus on becoming friends with their child. A mother and father will most likely give into a child's every demand, while we might say that teaches a child to be selfish; Turkey claims it makes familial relationships stronger. Parents will let their child make important decision and will respects their choices. While Turkish parents do believe in corporal punishment, hardly any use it because they are permissive and forgive the child easily. Children can virtually do anything and not suffer the repercussions. Parents also do not punish their kids for standing out like China does. In fact, it is seen as a good thing in Turkey to become an individual. Although learning to become yourself is important, extended family is too, Turkey doesn’t go as far as living in the same house like China. Instead, Turkey families hosts many get togethers with family which is said to help a child behave in social situations.
