Fahrenheit 451: The Meaning Of A Literature Class
Literature is one of the most important classes an American citizen could take. Literature has been important to us for centuries. Literature has ideas in them that have a really deep meaning. The book I read during my literature class have deep meaning behind then, and in them. The book have important ideas and should be shown to the world. Literature is still important because it teaches a reader how to think.
In literature class, we read books that can be applied in our world. We read American Native mythological stories that taught life lessons to children. We read about Native American contact era excerpts that depicted how the Europeans viewed the Indigenous people of America. We read The Crucible in which we made connections with, comparing our village to the settlement in Salem, Massachusetts, and we analyzed what happened in the book. We were taught about the Barrow Duck In, and we also made connections comparing the Native protest on duck hunting rights to the civil rights of many other minority groups across the country; past and present. We also evaluated the situation the minority groups were in. Fahrenheit 451 was just about my favorite reading, because it really showed me me how lazy and ignorant I was. A literature class can also help a student do hard work to prepare them for adulthood. The philosophers I read about had different worlds in their head that could apply to the world around me. I was able to analyze and evaluate what they were saying, and now I can discuss how I feel about a reading or about the problems of today. This is why literature is important, and it should stay an important class until it is really necessary to discontinue literature classes. If we had to keep only one class for school, it will have to
