INTRODUCTION

The most significant breakthrough of teaching as a profession was enacted of R.A 7836, “The Teachers’ Professionalization Act of 1994.” The whole education world had causes to rejoice upon promulgation of the law, for now the teaching profession was at par with the other 41 professions of the country. The Professional Regulation Commission listed teaching as the 42nd profession in the Philippines hereon, nobody would engage in the profession without a license (Colinares, 2010) Licensure examination for teachers provides a valuable framework against which teaching practice can be measured and certified. The professional license serves as the passport to practice the profession. (Salandanan, 2001). It is a very important examination, as ones’ teaching career may well depend on its outcome. This’ of course is a source of worry for teachers (Guanko, 2011). Passing the Licensure examination, you will be a professional teacher and has the rights and privileges as a licensed teacher with accordance with the Magna Carta for public teachers. He or she will therefore qualify to teach in government recognized schools in the country. Passing the LET brings prestige not only to the passer or to their family but also to the school where they study (Buhay, M., B.M., G.G., 2003). And understanding why candidates fail is an excellent way of recognizing and avoiding the most common pitfalls and traps (Gondolo, 2005). There is no magic in passing – solid training, broad experience and clear thinking are all basic requirements. But a prescription for failure is a lack of preparation, which includes not only knowledge but also understanding of what is expected by the examinees (Glass, 2005). And causes of poor quality of education are inadequate faculty credentials, facilities, others are unregulated expansion of local states and universities. Knowing the factors affecting the probability of passing the Licensure Examination for teachers is a great help not only for Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education students but also to the students who are enrolled in the program related to education and will take LET in the future in their preparation for the licensure examination. Being able to pass the Licensure Examination is a big achievement for education students and having a great number of passers will help the school to attract more enrollees in the future.
