Intrinsic risk health factors are within the internal source and oftentimes uncontrollable such as firefighters genetic condition, current health condition, age, gender, stamina, and others alike.The extrinsic risk factors are the ones that are within their control to maintain health by means of physical activities, using of personal protective equipment, and following standards and guidelines. Identifying these two kinds of factors are important so these could be address and prevent accident and other health related issues on the part of the firefighters. Both the management and the firefighters themselves are responsible in ensuring their health and well-being as their do their dangerous job.

In firefighting job, lives and health are at risk, so this job demand greater risk control among other professions. Risk control means that when risks are identified and evaluated, action for control for each risk should be implemented and documented. Risk Management is the process of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the resources and activities of an organization in order to minimize detrimental effects on that organization. The fire service management should always tackle the risk control measures to the members to ensure that everyone is well-informed and deaths or accidents could be highly prevented. The two primary methods of controlling risk, are totally eliminating or avoiding the risk or the activity that presents the risk and in case eliminating or avoiding is barely possible, there should be prepared methods to control it. The participation of all members of fire fighting organization is needed to make things work effectively. As with any program, it is important to evaluate whether the plan is working by means of evaluations. Firefighters should evaluate the result because they are the one who will have first hand experience in applying the measures. If the program elements are not working according to satisfying standard, then changes should be discussed and
