Extracurricular Application Research Paper
Throughout my high school career I have had the ability to balance extracurricular activities, a social life, and most importantly my academics. Recently, I also, began working a part-time job after school. I know I am qualified to be a friar. This means I may have the opportunity to further my education in a field of applied physics. Since the first day I entered my physics class in eleventh grade I instantly became intrigued with the subject. Providence College can help me further my education and help me settle to find an area of concentration of my choice. In addition, I would also be able to participate in intramural sports on campus. My favorite sport to play is softball, however, I do not have the qualifications to play for a NCAA division

I am writing to you to because I am concerned about the accessibility of the Pell Grant and asking you to support the Year-Round Pell Grant Restoration Act. Many students seeking higher education struggle to pay their tuition. They cannot afford to be at school for more than four years and cannot handle the pressure of taking a more than the suggested course load to graduate on time. One way to make higher education more accessible is to expand the eligibility of the Federal Pell Grant to winter and summer semester. If the Federal Pell Grant is available year round it, would allow students to take classes at their own pace.…

College is about making memories, both good and bad. The University of South Alabama is a dry campus, which means that there are no alcoholic beverages allowed in your dorm room or at any event on campus. Even though the legal age for consuming alcohol is twenty-one students still participate in underage drinking. The legal age to smoke tobacco products in the state of Alabama is nineteen and at least fifty percent of the students at the University of South Alabama smoke tobacco products under age. So why should we continue to be a dry campus?…

One of the biggest fears of college students is gaining an excessive amount of weight. As most UMass students know, the school’s dining commons are currently ranked second in the United States by the Princeton Review. When I began attending school, the term “Freshman 15” was a common term that was often spoken about amongst my friends. The term “Freshman 15” refers to the amount of weight which is expected to be gained in the first year of college because of the easy access of food. I always looked at the “Freshman 15” as a myth before college. I wanted to learn more about UMass Amherst’s food. I wondered if it could be possible that UMass could be ranked as having one of the best dinning commons in the country and also have healthy…

I’ve persevered through many stages of my athletic career including being told by coaches at the age of 14, you will never be good enough to play varsity. I spent the next two years working passionately to be stronger, faster, smarter, and varsity quality. My hard work proved to be successful in baseball and the classroom. I was 2015 First Team All Orange County Player, All Sunset League Player two years, and CIF Champion. That hard work and dedication lead to multiple Division I offers. I choose Cal Poly because of the education, the baseball program, and the SLO community. I’ve been asked to share my story with little leaguers and high school athletes. Those opportunities to share with young students have offered me new prospective and understanding that I can achieve my career goals by obtaining a RPTA…

Fear and compassion are two very different feelings that equally drive individuals. Many assume that fear and compassion have absolutely no relationship due to the fact that they are polar opposite emotions that people usually do not associate with each other. Even though they are two very different emotions, fear can be used to express one’s inner compassion. Fear and compassion are two of the most prevalent emotions used in regular human interaction, but unlike compassion, fear is obviously dreaded in society due to the fact that humans in general do like to face and deal with adverse conditions. Leslie Bell, in Hard to Get: Twenty-Something Women and the Paradox of Sexual Freedom, talks about women in early their twenties facing fear about their identities. Robert Thurman’s “Wisdom” speaks about how his experience of becoming a monk taught him to release his inner “self”. And Charles Siebert speaks about the relationship between humans and elephants in the “Elephant Crackup”. Through all of these stories it is clear and apparent that deep and intense fear drives and motivates individuals to become much more compassionate and understanding.…

College and drinking have gone hand in hand for years. Whether it’s Spring weekend, celebrating the big game, or a Thursday night party, alcohol seems to bere the center of many social events. Because of this, my purpose is to promote moderate drinking on campus versus a dry campus, which is one where there is no alcohol drinking permitted on campus even for those students over the age of 21. Since all of us or someone we know, will be attending college, this is important information to know while making the decision about which college to go to.…

I must always be very responsible and well rounded to keep up with school, homework, practice, my social life, and my family. As exhausting as it is to stay fully devoted to this game there are many rewards. Softball has taught me about several valuable life lessons that will follow me through the rest of my life which include; teamwork, perseverance, responsibility, good sportsmanship, determination, faith, friendship, love, and so much more. Although I am very thankful for now possessing these qualities, the biggest way my dedication to softball would give back to me is by landing me a scholarship to play softball at a college. To be able to play at college level in a sport I have dedicated my whole life and worked so hard at would be a dream come true and such an accomplishment to know that I have finally made it. Through all the sweat, blood, and tears. The scorching heat, or the freezing cold, or the endless hours of practicing. It will have all been worth it in the end because I ended up exactly where I’ve always wanted to be; which is on a college softball field. I can just imagine it now. All the cheering fans and the television broadcasters as they film the game live for all to see on ESPN; the bright sun that beats down on us as we stand on the brown dirt and green…

Joining the future business leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, becoming a youth leader at Christ Church, as well as many other volunteering activities helped me enrich my community, and make an impact in the world around me. Along with these organizations, I have played several sports in high school, in my junior and senior years I settled on my two favorite sports, track and field, and volleyball. Within these sports I have made friendships with my teammates I will never forget, and learned important lessons in humbleness when winning, and cohere with my friends when losing. By being a member of any sports teams at my high school, I regularly attended many of my school’s events, giving me the opportunity to develop relationships, and gain a tremendous sense of pride in my school. I am looking forward to bringing this same sense of pride to my college, and making many new friendships along the way. I learned over the course of my education to this point, that when I became more involved with these activities, my performance in the classroom increased alongside my…

Attending the student involvement fair was a great experience. On the surface, the fair’s main purpose was to provide an outlet for students to engage in on campus activities that may strike their interest; however, I found it to be much more powerful than that. This involvement fair was not only a way to showcase Penn State and its nearly 900 clubs, but also a way to draw from each student interests and talents that may have been unknown to them. After attending the fair and meeting a several different organizations, I know that I have become a part of something bigger, and will be able to have experiences and be provided opportunities like no other.…

I have always been a dedicated learner in the classroom and am always eager to share my input in class discussions. Outside of the classroom, I have been an active member of numerous clubs and sports. One major activity I was a part of for all of my four years of high school was varsity ice hockey.
