Chapter 1
The Problem and its Setting
Introduction
In educational institution, success is measured by academic performance. Students were exposed to established a foundation and to meet the standards of school set-up. With that, education is the road to success in the working world. Much effort must be made to identify, track and encourage the progress of students in schools.
Involvement in school’s extra-curricular activities, is one of the students way to develop and enhance their skills. Activities performed by the students’ in which relevant to their chosen field is known to be extra-curricular activities1. These activities can help the students not just to develop their skills but also for them to gain peers and learn how to socialize with others. It is not necessary that when you say extra-curricular, it is only not concern sports. But rather, it may be the students’ desire or passion to be with a certain organization and his/ her skills can be enhanced. Students prioritize their academics more than anything else. Passing in all of their subjects is every student’s objective. And so, academic performance has a special part in every student. For, it implicates the intelligence of an individual. It is also measures by success or how does the students comply with the standards in the local government and institution2.
Having an excellent record in their school must be the main concern of every students. It is a way for them to have a good self-esteem on their self. In every school, they form a different kind of organizations, in which the student can choose what they would like to get involve with. The help of various organizations can help the students boost their self-confidence. And also, the chance of having a new set of peers.
Being active with extra-curricular, and also performing a good academic performance, is one description that a student’s has a good self-esteem. Moreover, with that kind of maturity it may also help the students be ready
