In the novel, Football Champ, There is a boy named troy who has to lead his team, and the NFL’s biggest star, to victory. I bet you don’t know a twelve year old that can predict game winning football plays, well now you do. Troy is the Atlanta Falcons best player, even though he isn’t actually a player he can think like one, he knows the right calls to play at the right time, and that can even lead his own team to victory and possibly make it to the NFL someday too. That is, if a reporter with a history doesn’t ruin it for him. This is an essay showing determination and kindness throughout the book and in real life today.
The theme of my novel is, if you dedicate yourself to something you can accomplish anything. This is conveyed in the book because in the novel, Troy’s football team looses their coach so Seth Halloway, (NFL player dating Troy’s mother), Jumps in and dedicates his time to help lead his team to the championship. For example a quote from my novel is, “You all have put too much time and effort to loose the championship, you can win, you will win.” This quote says that Seth knows the team is dedicated and have the ability to win, he just has to push them so they know that they can win against the best team in the whole state. This helps to prove that Seth is dedicated to helping the Duluth Tigers (Troy’s team) to victory by showing he is dedicated by caring about them winning. So, all in all, the theme is conveyed in this part of the book by showing that Seth is dedicated to helping Troy's team win.
My article relates to my book because in both story's there is a great deal of determination and kindness is displayed. My article is about a woman skier who trains very hard to get to the Olympics and does make it but gives up her spot on the USA team to her sister who is also a skier. This article supports my novel by showing that the events happening in the book are realistic events. A quote for the book to support this is,

Simon Thomas was at his final year at Richmond Hill public school. He was exceptional at studies and very talented at football. In fact, he was nominated for the best wide receiver for the previous football season. Scouts were already approaching Simon as if he was the Connor McDavid of football. Football season was around the corner and sign-up sheets were overdue. Simon was the only person left to hand his forms in. When Coach Billechek had come to confront him, he had told him that he was not going to pursue football anymore. “What do you mean you don’t want to play football anymore? Reading is something we do every single day not just in school but when we are driving, or when we are ordering food at a restaurant. Every single day we read but this week one paper that stood out to me was a article about football and teachers. I can see how they may not seem as if they relate or if they will ever relate. However the article really shows how we may never know who’s right for the job even if it’s choosing a quarterback for the nfl or picking a teacher. In Most Likely to Succeed by Malcolm Gladwell they talk about a scout named Dan Shonka, and how he can’t determine if Chase Daniel the star quarterback at the University of Missouri will actually be able to play in the NFL. In the NFL you have one moment to throw the ball just…

Like any story, my theme connects to real life. This theme is connected by showing that people who are selfless, content, and courageous are good people that are rewarded for their actions with a prize or just a feeling of doing what is right. In order to advance in life, you have to be a good person. When people are greedy, evil, and cruel, they are punished for their wrong doings. The people who are evil receive consequences for their actions. In life, you don’t have to go out of your way to be good, but the people who go out of their way to be evil don't get anywhere, as shown in this…

Another important theme is competition and games. In the novel, the boys are very competitive and play many sports. The most important contributor to this theme is Finny, because when playing games he is unable to comprehend the fact that there are winners and losers and opposing teams in sports. Finny says “"You always win at sports." This "you" was collective. Everyone always won at sports.” He seems to believe that everyone is a winner which adds to his image of pureness. This theme is consistent throughout most of the novel but changes somewhat when Finny breaks his leg. He is no longer able to play sports, which was one of his favorite things to do.…

The theme of It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini is life is filled with problems, but you need to work through them, and learn about yourself. An example of this being the theme is while Craig is in the hospital he discovers his love for art after realizing how much he enjoys art Craig decides to go to art school instead of his original high school. By adding this the author wanted the reader to recognize Craig making concrete plans for his future. This showed that Craig learned about himself and what he enjoys doing giving him a reason to live. This reminds me of when I was younger and played club soccer. Another example of this being the theme is the end of the book when Craig continuously tells himself to live. This is significant…

Animal Experimentation plays an important role in today’s medical and pharmaceutical advances, but many question the morality of such a use of animal life. Whether you argue that testing different products and drugs on animals is necessary or not, this has become an integral part of developing products. From that Tylenol you pop to get rid of your headache, to that perfect shade of pink lip gloss, animal testing is used in order to produce the simplest household items. Today, in the United States, it is federal law that requires all pharmaceuticals, food additives, cosmetics, and garden chemicals to undergo a series of tests, including animal testing, before being available to general public. It is estimated between fifty and a hundred million vertebrate animals worldwide are being used fro animal experiments. While many believe that animal experimentation is a crucial part of research and safety, others argue the morality of this issue. Another point of view some share is a mixture of both opposing views, where one believes that animal experimentation should only be condoned in the field of medical research but not for vanity reasons.…
