Explanatory Synthesis Essay of Car Accident

There are many causes of car accidents. Teenage drivers are involved in numerous crashes because of their immaturity. The radio, electronics, or other people can distract the driver. Accidents are also associated with bad weather. Even though speeding is against the law, individuals do it anyway, leading to lose of control over their vehicle. Drinking and driving is a very dangerous cause of car crashes. Traffic accidents can harm or possibly kill someone. People involved in these accidents may have to face consequences by law including being arrested, getting a ticket or fine, and losing their license. Worst of all, you will have a damaged car. Some of the more common causes of accidents include distractions, speeding, drinking, and inexperience. Another cause, is changing their radio channels, switching cd 's, and listening to iPods. Second reason, is people who talk and text on their cell phones while driving. Being in a hurry, people order food and drinks and eat on their way to work or school. Talking to someone in the same car is also considered a distraction to the driver. All it takes is for you to take your eyes off the road, driving to fast, or drinking any alcoholic beverages can distract someone, therefore causing a car accident. There are numerous drivers that end up in car accidents because of speeding. “ Many drivers ignore the speed limit and drive 10, 20 and sometimes 30 mph over the limit” (Top 25 Causes of Car Accidents). If speeding laws were followed, people would not lose control over their vehicles, and there would be less car crashes. Bad weather can create some terrible accidents also. For example, sleet, thunderstorms, and snow are all unsafe to drive in. “Car accidents happen very often in the rain because water creates slick and dangerous surfaces for cars, trucks, and motorcycles and often causes automobiles to spin out of control or skid while braking” (Top 25 Causes of Car Accidents). When driving in severe weather, be careful and alert. Taking safety precautions can decrease the number of car crashes in awful weather. Perhaps the most serious and frequent cause of accidents is drinking and driving. “When your drunk, you lose the ability to focus and function properly and its’ very dangerous when operating a vehicle” (Top 25 Causes of Car Accidents). Alcohol is a downer and makes many individuals drowsy. Being intoxicated slows down a person 's reaction. It even enables you to comprehend. In addition to the rest, alcohol makes your vision blurry. Drinking and driving is not safe and can be fatal. Another cause of accidents is inexperienced drivers such as teenagers who should not be driving. Most of them have a mindset of a child and are very immature, which can lead to car accidents. In fact, many teenage kids do not pay attention until something bad happens and affects them. “Researchers with the National Institute of Mental Health have shown that the parts of the brain that weigh risks, make judgments and control impulsive behavior are still developing through the teen years and don 't mature until about age 25” (Friedman 30-31). The effect of car accidents range from fender benders to serious damage and even death. “Drivers and passengers can suffer from minor cuts and bruises to broken limbs, whiplash, back and spinal injuries, paralysis and even death” (Smith). Whiplash is caused by jerking forward, backward, or both and getting whipped by the seatbelt. Paralysis is a loss of impairment of voluntary movement in the body due to injury of the nerves, brain, or spinal cord. There are numerous types of injuries a person can get from being in a car accident. After being in a car accident, people may have to face consequences by the law. They may not have insurance because insurance rates are high and on the rise. There are many reasons insurance can be high. As a result of this, they may not be able to afford it, so they could possibly get their license suspended. Some reasons of high insurance are age, martial status, driving violations, and many more. Being arrested is an option because they could be driving without a license or intoxicated. Another possibility is getting tickets or fines. Wrecked vehicles is another possible effect of being in a car accident. Many people total their cars from being in crashes which may upset them, for many because they could have just bought their car. Also, they could be liable to pay for the other persons damaged car. If they have insurance then their insurance might cover the damages of the other car, but only full coverage will cover your car to. Car accidents have many causes and effects. There are so many reasons accidents can happen and so many horrible things that can result. Some causes can include teenage drivers, distractions, speeding, and bad weather. The effects can include injuries, consequences, and wrecked vehicles.
