Exothermic Reactions
Exothermic Reactions!
When an Exothermic reaction occurs, energy is put into our surroundings. Creating a chemical bond releases energy, which makes it an exothermic process. Exothermic reactions usually feel hot, which means it is releasing heat into our surroundings.
Examples
Lighting a match- When you strike a match, heat is released to make a flame which lights the candle etc. This means that it is an exothermic reaction because heat is discharged. Turning on a light- A light produces 80% light and 20% heat. Light is a form of energy which means turning on a light is an exothermic reaction because light and heat is being released.

Endothermic Reactions
Endothermic reactions take in energy from its surroundings. The reaction usually goes colder due to the fact that the energy is transferred by heat energy.
Examples
Photosynthesis- Sunlight is one of the main reasons why photosynthesis occurs. Sunlight is a form of energy which the plant will take in, which means photosynthesis is a endothermic reaction.
Melting ice- The heat energy in the ice cubes surroundings causes it to melt. Because this process can’t happen without the heat from the outside, it is classed as an endothermic reaction.
