Existential Problems of Modern Living
Existential problems of modern living
It seems that all the attention today, modern society society geared towards ensuring comfortable living conditions for the people and the development of human society in general. More and more attention is paid to the protection of human rights, care for the disadvantaged minorities, gender equality, social welfare, compulsory education, improving the legal system that will all realize. It could be said that a society is so arranged that even has time to deal with problems and saturate animal rights. However, is it really so? Today more than ever we have the opportunity to hear about the daily problems of modern humans such as depression, anxiety, antisocial behavior, aggression. Does a society that strives to provide the optimum conditions for human existence should not be able to destroy this state of mind? Why, on the other hand we have a larger number of prisoners than prison and more mentally ill than the institutions where they can be disposed of?
I think it is primarily necessary to clarify that when I talk about modern living, I mean the developed western society because that's what the rest of the world generally heavier and it's her guidance movement of society in general. Of course, that level of development is not evenly distributed in the world, so therefore the problems faced by individual companies face today are different. However, if we consider that the entire human race is moving in that direction, and as such can metion the recent series of events known as the "Arab spring", then it can be considered relevant to talk about the existential problems of modern society, referring to the previously mentioned countries "developed" West.
So, what do we have new in the West? First, there is a lifestyle that puts the emphasis on the individual and his freedom of choice. In some earlier societies, there was no great dosupnost info or influence trends of globalization, were clearly defined framework of behavior in

I’m sure that at some point in their lives, everyone faces an existential crisis and questions, very philosophically of course, their roots and achievements and reasons for being. For some, this point is not reached until middle age, at which point they realize that their lives have been for naught and that the countless goals that they had set for themselves in their youth must be achieved immediately. For others, like myself, every other day contains an existential crisis of sorts. It’s easy to get sucked into the confusing, messy whirlwind that is our world and question one’s place in it. However, this chaos and confusion has never managed to maintain a steady grasp on me, for my roots have always kept me grounded and reminded me of who I am. My refugee grandparents, immigrant parents, and ever so loyal friends have forever instilled in me the importance of trusting in the best of others, finding strength in the easily overlooked beauty and blessings in the world,…

Sometimes there is sad, and then more than sad. Then among gifted minds, there is existential depression sad. In James T. Webb’s article, “Existential Depression in Gifted Individuals” he explains the thought process of higher thinking individuals and how the thinking can affect their emotional state. Existential depression is when people ponder life’s existential questions like death, isolation, freedom, and meaninglessness, for a prolonged period of time. Tess in Aryn Kyle’s short story, “Nine” is an example of a gifted child with existential depression. She often contemplates the deaths of people around her, and her own mortality. She also is cut off emotionally from people, but not by her own design. She is isolated from her father’s life, pushed to the side, and almost forgotten. The people she lives with cause Tess to have these issues with her life, and as an effect, she qualifies as a gifted child with existential depression.…

Just like in a competition, society has been forced to change and evolve drastically according to every human need. Although it is obvious that it must have certain adjustments every now and then to work along with individuals, transformations are now more frequently. This shows the loss of power and lack of control of society over the population. It can be showed especially with failure attempts to get power back by creating new and unnecessary needs based on material objects and possessions. Which have replaced humans ' sense of spirituality and self-criticism, about what one really needs to get liberation and transcend in this life.…

I believe that the number one factor that is holding us back is lack of good leadership. Any one who gets the authority lets it ultimately go to their head. They just work for their personal gain as there is no accountability for actions. A person who has the power can use it for what ever reasons. The kind of people we have in our government. The elections are rigged, the results are biased and the same people keep on being appointed again and again even though their actions have not proven them worthy. Even though the political system is a democratic one so why is the opinion of the people disregarded. Now we see the whole system is corrupt to the core although there maybe a few good honest people but an honest man cannot survive long except if they cut themselves from everything and live an isolated life which is not possible. So, what happens is there is no motivation for the right people to work because there is little or no support offered to them and when a person continuously faces opposition from all directions they ultimately give up so lack of dedication exists. Now the people who are in power feel little or no moral obligation to do anything that is ethically right for the welfare of the general public. Also, see the situation of the infrastructure over here a little rain destroyed the electrical supply units to all the areas in our city, there is no management. When a crisis has struck then they think of doing something about it why not think beforehand and come up with preventive measures rather than trying to solve it later as they say prevention is better than cure. Also, the people who have it all are most hesitant for things to change or be rectified as their security will be challenged. Look at the village areas where you still have the feudal lord systems what they do they restrict any efforts that would help develop people, make then think and question because they know their roles and positions will then be questioned, So, a lack of expertise.…

Often in history, the process of Modernization is mistaken for Westernization. What people call Westernization refers to the act of adopting the culture and lifestyle in order to improve. However, Modernization is process for transitions in social, economic, and political systems yet understanding that a country does not have to compromise their values and culture. Thinking in social structures and cultures, Modernity incorporates the development of traditional values. It recognizes that certain values may be accepting culturally due to other people’s beliefs but humanely, it may not.…

Edgar Allan Poe is noted as one of the most controversial authors. He was rejected by many and his works like his life are captivating, horrifying, and deal with love, death, terror, revenge and often brand evil. He had a love for the arts, alcohol and women. Death surrounded much of Poe’s early years and it is no wonder that many of his works deal with death and dying. His writings did not deal with the supernatural world of vampires or ghosts but dealt with the evil from within our souls that resides in each one of us. As in the story “The Cask of Amontillado” which focuses on revenge and pride which results in murder establishes the perfect backdrop for the perfect murder. Poe demonstrates how a person’s inner demons can lead to the…

Examples can be found all around the world. From China westernization is being reported “_In the 20-odd years since implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, Chinese youth has ostensibly embraced Western culture. They eat at any one of the 600 McDonald's or 1,000 KFCs in China, flock to NBA League and Italian Soccer League matches and watch Hollywood rather than domestically produced films_.” (China Daily) They also report that Chinese people in their 20s are tuning into sports games and television shows mainly originating in America. It is not only the youth that are being swept up in the globalised world. In a financial times magazine extract from the 21stof May 2005 conducted by Intel Corporation Anthropologists…

The world is more competitive than ever now. More people are competing for the same things, and when companies compete, the inferior ones fail. No one wants to fail, and when companies have already cut staff, lowered profit margins, and outsourced work, sometimes companies feel the only place they can find an edge is through unethical tactics. Also, I think greed is more prevalent than ever. Greed for money and greed for…

Citing the decline of Rome, France, Spain and England, which dominated and influenced the world during their days of glory, many claim that their past now portends our future. Our society has become freedom affluent, to such an extent that we seem obsessed with rights, while ignoring responsibility. To paraphrase Thomas Merton in his book Seeds of Destruction, if a society adopts a position where the dominant philosophy is every man for himself, leading to the rejection of altruism and sacrifice, it can only find its way out of such an impasse by growing into a new society. The current culture shows a trend toward permitting activities that would be restricted under historical standards for morality, sexuality and freedom of speech. Many in our polarized society see the results as a decline in principals, religion, education and values. Abortion, promiscuity, and hedonism are in vogue, and have a corrupting influence on families, which must be the basic foundation of any…

When it comes to societies and cultures it is important to point out the huge differences there is between them, depending on there in the world you are. Some people live in a wealthy society and others live in a poor society and this has a high influence on how people think and act. There are though some primitive cultures there money isn’t the most important thing, they try to live like we did many years ago, without the stress and materialism. It can be argued that some changes in our lives have had negative impact on not only the nature but also the human environment. For example, the value of family was very important in the past but on these days, people seem to have more things and more entertainment which cannot compensate for the loss of family relationships. One reason for this loss is that families spend less time together. As a result of this, crime rates and divorce rates have increased and peole have lost any sense of community.…
