Hamlet
Imagine having to try to live a normal life, with your mom and uncle married. And to make it even worse, you find out that your uncle killed your dad just so he could marry her. In Shakespeare's play Hamlet, the main character suffers from a fatal weakness in character which eventually causes the downfall of Polonius, his mother, and most importantly himself. This weakness is his inability to take action and he later realizes how horribly this weakness effects him and the people around him. I feel as though Shakespeare used this character weakness to show that when you overthink things, the worst is bound to happen. Hamlet had plenty of oppourtunities

Hamlet is about Prince Hamlet’s misperceptions that women are morally Corrupt. Hamlet’s misperceptions originate from Gertrude’s inappropriate behavior and ignorance and Ophelia’s malleable behavior, and throughout the play Hamlet is rude and cynical to the two main female characters. Hamlet makes a sweeping generalization based on his Mother Gertrude and Ophelia that all women are morally corrupt, and in doing so he demonstrates a lack of trust in Gertrude that contributes to his madness and leads him to more trouble.…

Hamlet appears to be insane, after Polonius's death, in act IV scene II. There are indications, though, that persuade me to think other wise. Certainly, Hamlet has plenty of reasons to be insane at this point. His day has been hectic-he finally determined Claudius had killed his father, the chance to kill Claudius confronted him, he comes very close to convincing Gertrude that Claudius killed his father, he accidentally kills Polonius, and finally the ghost of his father visits him. These situations are enough to bring Hamlet to insanity, but he remains sharp and credible.

Hamlet is able to make smart remarks to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, comparing then to sponges, "When he (Claudius) needs what you have gleaned, it is but squeezing…

Corruption, noun, means dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power. When Hamlet is truly analyzed, along with the characters, you would see corruption is a similar trait going along. One could say corruption is the play itself. To quote William Shakespeare, ‘Something is rotten in the state of Denmark’ (1.4).…

The term “madness” can be known as extreme foolish behavior. It can become a very scary thing if one does not have control over themselves. If someone does not let their anger out during the moment and let it build up inside of them over time, it can make them go insane to the point where they are acting and doing things they don’t want to be doing. Not letting your anger out is what constitutes madness and connects it to truth and reality.…

Hamlet notoriously asserts, “Frailty, thy name is woman!” (I.II.150) after being disgruntled and disappointed by his mother’s short mourning period for his father. To a modern audience, this phrase is immensely appalling, but for the Elizabethan era, this is perfectly acceptable. Elizabethan social order was built upon a temple where its foundations was the patriarchal domination and it was decorated with misogynistic ornaments. Hamlet’s tumultuous relationship with Ophelia is due to his distrust and dissatisfaction with his own mother, Gertrude. Shakespeare’s Elsinore is pulsing with testosterone throughout its palace walls. King Claudius, King of Denmark, is the chief of state and Gertrude remains loyal and dependent on him. On a lower level, Polonius, is the chief advisor, who is the head of his family and Ophelia remains dependent on him. Hamlet views that both Ophelia and Gertrude are dependent on the men in their lives because they are incapable of fending, thinking and supporting themselves, which prompts to Hamlet’s misogynistic feelings.…

In Shakespeare's "Hamlet", Hamlet, the main character, displays a very indecisive and uncertain demeanor throughout Hamlet. This recurrent behavior is displayed when: Hamlet first encounters the Ghost of his father, to learn that Hamlet's Uncle, the King, killed Hamlet's Father, also in Shakespeare's most prolific monologue of Hamlet and lastly when Hamlet stabs one of the King's confidants, Polonius. Hamlet's wavering decision making as well as his uncertainty in everything leads to Hamlet's apparent insanity; although he is not completely insane, just to a certain degree that allows him to be somewhat sane.…

Through the exploration of characters from Moby Dick and Hamlet, it became clear that an ignoble death to Herman Melville and William Shakespeare is a death that is one of impiety, irreverence and arrogance that makes it impossible to repent. These traits are evident in Ahab and Hamlet. Because of their madness, they are drawn into a deep arrogance that causes the both to develop an impiety and hatred for those around them, leading to their ignoble death. On the contrary, Queequeg embodies what a noble character is, while no character in Hamlet dies a noble death. However, scenes in the play show what Shakespeare believes is a noble death. With Queequeg and the scenes written in Hamlet, it is shown that a noble death, is a death that through…

Day 1 - I was once again reminded of my mothers’ marriage to my uncle, Claudius. To this day I still feel disgusted and outraged that either of them would think it is morally okay to do such a thing. My father had only past away under a month before my mother had married my father’s brother. I think it’s terribly disrespectful and ignorant towards my father. He would have given the world and more. He loved her more then anything, and I don’t understand how she marry his brother in such short time, and not feel guilty or disgusted by herself. It just astonishes me.…
