MECHANIC TWP. — It was a surreal scene, according to Toni Mishler, as she and husband, Tom, wandered the darkened lawn of their Lake Buckhorn property Wednesday night, watching firefighters douse the flames that consumed their home.
No one was at home when the fire erupted, and they were about 10 minutes away when Toni said she was contacted by her manager, Kim Miller, who had heard the Mishlers' Ofen Cove address broadcast over a fire page.
Toni, a Pomerene Hospital obstetrics nurse, is responsible for conducting home visits for new moms and babies and had been pleased a light schedule of only two home visits gave her a rare chance to join her husband for Wednesday evening church services. Had she not been with him at church, she likely would

Since, she said, they've added an ornament a year, often representative of a significant life event. She was saddened by the loss of those and the many ornaments hand-crafted by her children over the years — even :the ugly angels made from napkins” that, despite their appearance, always made it onto the the tree, albeit on the back side.
“I always said I would grab that box first if my house ever burned,” she said, shaking her head, realizing that was no longer a reality, but comforted in the fact the memories will never be lost.
Holmes Fire District No. 1 was dispatched to 7976 Ofen Cove at 9:04 p.m. after a passerby saw fire in the garage. The first truck arrived 10 minutes later, at which time the fire had spread into the house and was fully involved, according to Chief Scott Balder.
It took about 1 ½ hours for responders to contain the fire, and, using about 40,000 gallons of water from the lake, they remained on scene until about 2 p.m.
A total of about 20 firefighters responded, with mutual aid from East Holmes Fire & EMS Co, Prairie Township and Killbuck volunteer fire

My education and personal development was the priority during my Prenatal Services Internship and a true testament of this was when I was scheduled to aid a nurse practitioner during an ultrasound on my first day. My preceptors immersed me into a new aspect of the clinic each week, varied my educational and clerical tasks, and emphasized patient diversity during my shadowing schedule. Getting exposure to how these medical professionals created personal connections with each of their patients was an extremely valuable experience which reinforced that patient care should not be a structured routine. The nurses did their due diligence to call, remind, and encourage absent patients to attend appointments. At first, it was hard to believe that protocol…

According to what a lot of people say, Mrs. O Leary’s was in the barn when one of her cows kicked over a lantern, which caused the fire that consumed the whole Chicago City. By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze had spread out everywhere and it was totally uncontrollable. Two days later, the fire finally stopped rampaging because the rain began to fall. However, the damage was too severe. 300 people died and 100000 people became homeless. Also 200 million worth of property was completely defaced and destroyed. Mrs. O Leary was blamed. However, she made a confession that she and her family were asleep when the fire broke out. “Kate O'Leary offered sworn testimony that she was in bed when the fire started, and the official inquiry concluded that it found no proof of her guilt.” Also, every media source offers different things about the start of this accident. For example, some say that “Some boys were sneaking a smoke or gambling in the barn.”…

Throughout the entire wildfire, having open communication with your team is essential to ensuring you make it out alive. Although, the Granite Mountain Hotshots, as many reports have shown, had the communication that is expected from an elite group of firemen. The men were positioned to continue to attempt to contain the fire, with an escape route if anything were to happen. As a reluctant and nervous nineteen-year-old, I walked in to my first day as a nurse aid to a brightly lit, and mostly bubble gum pink Women’s Service’s unit. I worked there through nursing school; and happily accepted a job as a nurse after graduating. Nine years, and a lot of joy, tears, and learning in between, I continue to call this place my home. There is much satisfaction in being part of the continuum of care of women and families during the antepartum, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period, as well as the care of her newborn baby, and for some women, before and after gynecological surgeries. This mostly happy area of practice is not immune to tragedy, and the to have ability to be with a family and counsel them in their…

The strong State and Federal Government presence in Oklahoma City helped the response-and-rescue effort. For example, immediately following the explosion, the Oklahoma City Fire Department set up an Incident Command System (ICS) to manage the intensive search-and-rescue mission and massive influx of federal, state, local, and voluntary agency resources (Oklahoma Department of Civil Emergency Management, 1996). Also, working together, the local police department, the county sheriff, and state and federal agencies handled traffic and security. By 9:25 a.m., 23 minutes after the blast, the State Emergency Operations Center was operational and included representatives from the state departments of public safety, human services, military, health, and education. Soon joining these agencies were the National Weather Service, the Civil Air Patrol, and the American Red Cross (ARC).…
