HI Daisy, I totally agree that miscommunication and conflict within the health care team can lead to negative patient outcomes. Excellent communication is absolutely necessary sustain workplace proficiency. Miscommunication can cause conflicts among health care workers. An another example, physician gave an order to give ten unit of regular insulin and kayexalate to treat high potassium levels 6.9. However the patient blood sugar was 153. Nurse who received the order, executed it, then question the order. Needless to say the patient blood glucose dropped to 35. The physician was called and new orders received, nurse Jane then explained how she felt about previous order. Physician then got very defensive and told her if she had a question about
