These prejudice thoughts and discriminatory acts all circle back to Social Darwinism. Darwin’s theory, developed in the mid-19th century was based on the belief that environmental competition, a process called natural selection, ensured that only the strongest and most fit organisms would survive (allowing the biologically fragile to perish); thus, guaranteeing the successful survival of a species(Martin, 2012). Also, supporters of social Darwinism opposed state aid to the poor and otherwise handicapped.
