Examples Of Artifact
The artifact presented below is a birthday card from my oldest sister. The criteria it fulfills is that it is a item of my choice. I chose this birthday card because this specific item has sentimental value to me. This card was given to me with a special gift that I truly enjoyed. My birthday card was very special to me because it shows a piece of her emotion even though she is an impassive person on the outside. I put this in my anthology because I want to look back over the years and see what I chose to put in my scrapbook and read why and what each article meant to me, and this is one of

It is the year 2325 and hundreds of years beyond the time of dominance the United States of America. This once super power is now just part of the North American Empire. While doing and archeological dig in the mid eastern area of the empire we discovered a time capsule from the 1960s. This time capsule had five things that were enclosed represented very important parts of that decade to the American people. Those five things were a Moon rock, an audio recording of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream Speech”, a banner that read “Women’s Liberation”, an LSD Drop, and the dress…

This artifact is a letter written by my professor Dr. Maureen Walsh explaining my involvement in Read across America Day at North Schuylkill Elementary School. I co-taught two lessons on this day one in a secondary classroom and one in a kindergarten classroom. This experience allowed me to practice teaching strategies and work collaboratively with the community. This artifact fits under standard #10: leadership and collaboration, since it explains an opportunity I had to work with a peer and serve my community. By doing this experience I gained a lot of knowledge on how to work well with other professionals and volunteer in my community. This is an example of my best work since it demonstrates how a professor noticed my ability to use the…

Observable “artifacts include the physical signs of an organization 's dominant culture.” (Baack, 2012) This would include but not limited to displays of awards, uniforms, and our social media. Awards that show observable artifacts include our MWR supported of the year and MWR customer service award. These awards include forty hours of annual leave and a plaque displayed for the whole installation to see. This helps for the employees to know that their hard work is being noticed and that they are appreciated. Each facility within the organization has a special uniform they wear in order to distinguish what department they are with. This has become a great help to our customers when we do major events to include all staff. Lastly our social media for our individual departments is an example of observable artifacts. For example, when the aquatic center receives awards, has events, or we do special training we announce these on our Facebook to show the installation what is going on in our own department.…

As a college student, I can’t help but to notice how easily distracted students can get due to social networks like Facebook and Twitter. For a fact I know I have been distracted due to social networking like Twitter. I tweet an average of over 200 tweets per day. Twitter is so distracting that hours can go by and I will not notice that it has been that long. I get so distracted by all the gossip in the media, and wondering what is going on with everyone else that by the time I log off I forgot what I had to do. Getting on Twitter everyday is a priority; it’s like a daily task that has to be accomplished. Social media has been one of the top distractions for most teenagers. We are so interested in the things that go on in the world today that the common responsibilities like homework, school, and sometimes-even family are forgotten. It seems as if the Internet has taken over our lives. Why is so distracting?…

The feelings of alienation continue. He does not experience a connection with this representation of the past – the exhibit to him is a collection of words that are used to label items as shown in the accumulation of, “Hay knife, draining plough, /shoulder yoke, box iron”. He looks “at words” rather than the real objects themselves, suggesting his alienation from the material world. “Heritage” implies a rich past that has been passed on to him but he rejects it as it, “isn’t mine”.…

The object that I chose was the Statuette of Amun. This object would be categorized as a sculpture. This pure gold figurine represents the god Amun which has also been identified as Am, Amun, Amen, Ammon, Amon, and many other variations in spelling. Amun is an ancient Egyptian deity who was revered for being king of the gods and the supreme creator of not only all life but also heaven and the underworld. He was the ancient Egyptian god of fertility and life as well as the sun and air. (ancient history encyclopedia) Amun was “arguably the most important god in the Egyptian pantheon” (the met website). Amun is most often identified as Amun-Re. Egyptians often blended their deities and Amun-Re was the combination of Amun and the deity Re who…

Thousands of coastal cities and even whole islands are at risk of being claimed by the ocean due to sea levels worldwide rising at a rate of 0.14 inches per year since the early 1990s (Sea). This increase in sea levels is generated by global warming. Global warming, also known as climate change, is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere and oceans, that could have a permanent and devastating effect on the world (Global). It has existed ever since the beginning of the Industrial revolution back in the 1880s due to fossil-fueled mechanisms (Ocean). Many indicators of climate change include: a rise in sea levels, polar ice caps and glaciers melting, ocean acidification and an…

It’s pretty obvious what ill be talking about today and for those that are completely clueless then good at least I’m surprising a few. For those who don’t know what I’m holding, this right here established the foundation of my childhood, culture, and future. You guys thought I was going to keep it simple and say, “It’s just a soccer ball” well yes it is but to me it’s so much more than that. Lets begin with saying soccer is universal. There is so much more than running non-stop for 90 minutes and going up and down a field chasing a ball. Since I cant speak for everyone in the room and I don’t have super powers to read peoples mind, to me, soccer builds our character, holds families together, and brings a divided world into one.…
