Examples Of Allegory In Of Mice And Men
“Of Mice and Men” is considered to be an allegory. The definition of an allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning. Without realization, society created different categories, or groups, and placed people in them based on different characteristics. In this story, many of the characters are portrayed as these different groups in society. Today I would like to talk to you about what these characters do and how they represent a certain category

Even though he isn’t the head of the operation, he still holds a grand leadership role, making him, technically, a ruler. Curley is a very audacious man. He demands to be respected and throws out commands, expecting the farmhands to obey. He shows little respect for the workers, and is very cocky. This trait shows through at the point in the story where he fights Lennie. Lennie, being challenged, doesn’t understand that he shouldn’t be laughing. He just does what the other farmhands do. When Curley sees a chance to demonstrate his power, he dives right into it by challenging and fighting Lennie.
In conclusion, “Of Mice and Men” shows, through the characters, the different groups in society. It lets the readers see just how different these groups are. In contrast, it also shows that even though people are different, they can still work together and form bonds. Just like in the story, none of the characters were exactly alike, but they were still connected, some good and some bad. This story, being an allegory, let the readers get a different prospective of what really happened. Also, it allowed the readers to interpret the story in more than one
