Example Of Self Serving Bias
The self-serving bias that I struggle with is to take other people’s opinions about a situation and believe they are fact. For example; when I was younger, I was told by a teacher that I was not smart. Believing that fact made it easier to blame my lack of capability on a past experience, instead of rising to the challenge of proving I am a success, I chose to allow it to slow my progress of getting an education. Taking a negative comment and turning it into a fact instead of an opinion, give people power over your life. Learning to take the power back and turning it into a positive has given me an opportunity to have a job I love instead of a job I hate.
