Personality development is the development of the organized pattern of behaviors and attitudes that makes a person distinctive. Personality development occurs by the ongoing interaction of temperament, character, and environment.
Personality is what makes a person a unique person, and it is recognizable soon after birth. A child's personality has several components: temperament, environment, and character. Temperament is the set of genetically determined traits that determine the child's approach to the world and how the child learns about the world. There are no genes that specify personality traits, but some genes do control the development of the nervous system, which in turn controls behavior. A second component of personality comes from adaptive patterns related to a child's specific environment. An individual’s character can be determined by many factors. People learn behaviour from external factors like the environment they grow up in and by observing the people they interact with. Human behaviour is also impacted by the emotions people experience and the manner in which they express them. However, a theory from ancient times states that character is strictly determined by a person’s biological factors. A temperament is a person’s natural disposition; the mental, physical, and emotional traits that makes a person who they are (Definition of Temperament). The theory of the four temperaments suggests that…

Personality is made up of the individual’s characteristic and patterns of opinions, judgment, and behaviours in which make a person unique i.e. shy, outgoing, aggressive, laid back. Personality also comes from within the individual (such as their back ground or parents) and remains fairly consistent throughout life, for example a person with a very aggressive and up front personality never real changes from a young age though to old age, he may be calmer at times however in certain situations his aggressive personality will come out, i.e. on a rugby pitch. All individuals are unique to every other human, however every individual’s personality has comparison between each other, and they just react in different ways using the same characteristics as one another.…

Temperament is defined as the features of your personality that are present at birth and have a genetic/biological basis. Your temperament, or basic disposition, interacts with environmental influences to create your personality (Salters-Pedneault, 2010). Temperament is a behavioral style that shows the how of behavior, rather than the what or why. Temperamental differences are present at birth; they influence how children behave toward individuals and objects in their environments and how they are affected by the environment (Behavioral-Development Initiatives, 1996-2012). Temperament originates in genes and prenatal development and is affected by early experiences (Berger, 2011, p. 183).…

Personality is a concept that can be viewed so differently among people. There are several conceptual issues that relate to the study of personality but the two that pulled me the most were Genetic Determinants and Environmental Determinants. This is my third class in my Graduate program and I have found that Nature vs. Nurture is an “argument” that is a constant factor in individual development and personality. I am swayed more toward these two factors of personality development due to several personal experiences.…

People are born with their own special traits and personality. This has been a keen interest for many scientists who have always wondered what really is the factor that makes up individual personality traits. The debate on whether human personality is influenced by nature or nurture took place ever since the time of Plato and Aristotle and is still in progress today with many supporting evidence for both sides. Humans may be destined to be bald, fear the dark and laugh out loud, whereas they can also learn to love tea, hate math and tell lies. Most physical characteristics of humans are hereditary, but the genetic waters get a bit more obscure when it comes to an individual's behavior, intelligence and personality. Genetics and environment affect individual personality traits.…
