The NFL (National Football League) uses many forms of technology. You may not realize it but they actually have a lot of technology in there everyday games. For example they use headphones to communicate and they use a scoreboard to keep track of the score and to know how much time is left in the game. They also use tablets to make up plays. As you can see there are multiple sources of technology and more that I haven’t even mentioned. Right now, I will only talk about one of these pieces of technology. That one piece of technology will be the earpiece that quarterbacks and coaches use to communicate with each other.…

The average tackle football player has a natural tendency to experience fear and tension when thinking about the heavy rate of concussion injuries within the sport. In response to the violently physical nature of the game, Riddell Sports has produced a helmet that provides the best defense to worries and consequences of a concussion. The Riddell Revolution 360 football helmet has been constructed by engineers to protect the mental processes and safety of players. As a football player myself, I can think of no better alternative for head trauma prevention than this helmet. Riddell takes into account and states that players sustain roughly 950 impacts to the head over the course of a season. As a result of this, the helmet places a strong emphasis on protection of the most impacted part of the head, the front. Patented in 2012, HIT technology was established by Riddell in their experiment labs to measure the severity and location of head impacts from all directions. This technology proves that detrimental impact to the brain can go unnoticed or misunderstood, and use it to prevent future mental problems for players. This product changes the way participants feel comfortable and confident on the playing field more than ever before. The technology that is added includes a new carbon steel facemask that flexes in reaction to impact. Also added to the helmet was a new face frame structure which is made up of continuous hexagonal shaped padding on the interior that shapes to players heads for a custom and tight fit. This is important for reducing the amount of force to the head, which will allow the sport to be more commonly tolerated by everyone interested. With the rise of cognitive damage in football due to head trauma, parents are more hesitant than ever to allow their children play the game at a young age. However, parents can be assured that the expanded technology in the Riddell 360 will protect their children like never before.…

A football helmet has long been time iconic symbol and cultural artifact. American football can be traced back to the mid-19th century. The very first intercollegiate game was played in 1869 and the first professional game was played in 1892; however, they did not use helmets. In fact the leather helmet was not invented until the early 1900s, and its use was not enforced until the 1920s. Since that time helmets have evolved and become more protective. In 1939, Riddell, a company in Illinois, manufactured plastic helmets because they thought it would be safer for the players. Football helmets became mandatory by the 1940s in the NFL and plastic facemasks were being put on them as well. The helmets we see players wearing did not come onto the market until the 1990s. Todays helmets are made of polycarbonate and are much stronger than any previously made helmet. Riddell has recently developed a helmet called the Revolution, which is supposed to be more concussion proof, but in theory there is no such thing.…

“Helmets have a natural limitation,” said study contributor, Dr. Julian Bailes, former NFL and NCAA team physician and new chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at NorthShore University Health System in Evanston, Ill. “With some major collisions, the helmet—the head—stops moving. Helmets work well for preventing scalp laceration, skull fracture and bleeding in the brain, but they don’t always prevent rotation and tearing of brain fibers,” he said. Helmets do not offer full protection from concussions but there has been no alternative up until now. A group of researchers have developed a potential solution to this concussion problem that doesn't involve helmets but external protection that internally affects the players. A simple collar has been created that compresses the vessels in the neck to increase blood volume and reduce internal movement of the brain. The concept of this product was to reduce slosh. Slosh is the term researchers use to describe the movement and tearing of the brain that occurs when a player suffers a concussion. An 83 percent reduction in the amount of brain fibers torn was shown when testing the collars on rats. The collars have yet to hit the big stage and be studied on people but the wearability of these collars are being tested by our military. Bailes has also stated that these finding are preliminary and further…

The NFL put it in the hands of the referee to stop illegal hits during their game. “ There is a rule in the books that a referee can throw somebody out of the game ( for illegal hits)” (“How will NFL improve concussions over the next 50 years”).However there has been a decrease in those hits. Now the refs have to make those judgement calls. “ Now I’ve been watching football my whole life, I’ve never seen someone thrown out of the game” (“How will NFL improve concussions over the next 50 years”). However, referees play a key part in keeping the game safe. Since technology is always getting better, scientists are trying to create a new helmet that will hopefully decrease more head injuries. “ First, improvements in helmet construction, including padding that hardens on impact and honeycomb structures only possible through 3D printing, may help absorb forces” (“ How will NFL improve concussions over the next 50 years”). People need to know that efforts are out there to keep our athletes safe. As long as we have proper safety rules and equipment, head injuries will decrease…

A lower first wing is located at the forward end of the fuselage attached directly to fuselage structure. A second higher wing is located at the aft end of the fuselage. Pitch control is achieved by increasing or decreasing the lift on either wing. In a tandem wing design the lift vectors on the two wings are spread far apart longitudinally, allowing them to act together to achieve stability and control.…

Football is a sport that requires a lot of sweat, hard work and dedication. In football, teammates become family, trust is built with them and the feeling of being protected and supported surrounds every move a football player takes. Practice is where sacrifices are made, a lot of pain is suffered and times when a lot of players feel like it isn’t worth it. When putting on that football uniform, its just like putting on an army uniform. Cleats are the grip that aids in the ability to not fall down during war, the pants are shields to prevent the enemy from hurting any part of the body. Football pads can be the weapon and the biggest impact, you can use them at any time and if you time it just right it can be the difference between a win and lose. When hitting the opposing team with the strength of the pads and hearing the crack it makes, it feels like nothing else in this world. The impact is felt, but the aftershock is what keeps the game interesting and the players motivated. The helmet is the most important thing in war, it protects the most important thing on the battle field; the brain. When the helmet is put on, a feeling rushed through the body of the athlete and he begins to mentally prepare for battle. Football and fighting in a war have many similarities. Just like wars and battles are fought on battlefields, football also takes place on a specific field. The football field is a hundred yards long and this represents the boundaries inside which the battle takes place. The real battles in wars also take place in certain areas and not inside cities and towns. The players in a football game are penalized if the ball goes out of bounds and they have to try very hard to keep the ball inside the boundaries in order to progress in the game. When the sounds of whistles go off, the game comes to a quick pause while the ball is either progressed further down the field or turned over to the other team. Similarly, just as a war has its death, football has…
