Evolution Of Dog Research Paper
Did you know that dogs have been on our sides for ages? It all started thousands of years ago when dogs were wolves. They are the great ancestors of all these kinds of dogs. Though wolves look very fierce, they changed because of humans. So, to be honest, sometimes dogs become part of the family, so basically your kind of have a wolf. Dogs have had a long relationship with humans for several centuries.

Long Long ago, dogs were wolves that would sometimes prey on humans, weird right. Well, the human and dog relationship happened when wolves would venture into human camps and eat food scraps. Soon the wolves had pups and passed some of that boldness to them. They passed their boldness to hang around human camps. Afterwards wolves kept coming to human camps, they made good guardians and protected them from dangerous animals. So generation to generation wolves were starting to get closer and closer to humans. Later eventually, their bodies grew smaller, their ears grew floppier and they became less aggressive. Dogs are now used to help humans in jobs, like sniffing out drugs or bombs, they do human jobs a little bit easier. Some dogs were mummified with their owners because they were so prized by their

These dogs changed from these fierce animals into the pets we all want to love. The reasons the two relate are that they are both showing how dogs and humans changed over time. Dogs were once the sheepherders and rat chasers, but now they are pets we all love to spoil. These dogs that everyone has, were made from their great ancestors the grey wolf. Dogs sleep in our beds, lick our faces and join us on vacations, people do all these things with dogs and can not even bother taking us to the store. Pit bulls are mean. Their bite rate is high. They are a danger. But does anyone think about why they are like that? They aren’t just born like that, it is how some are raised. No dog can just be a certain way. Not all pitbulls mean, and they aren’t the only ones. Any dog can be vicious. It is an unreasonable thought to think all pitbulls are all dangerous in general.…

The existence of animals has been vital to the very development of mankind. Through hunting, fishing, and domestication of certain breeds, man has learned to live, for the most part at least, alongside these creatures. One case in particular, the domesticated wolf and modern-day dog (Canis lupus familiaris) has become a cornerstone of modern families, with an estimated forty-six percent of American households owning at least one dog (Humane Society). Some dogs, like the dogs known as pit-bulls, tend to have a negative implication surrounding them. This idea that pit-bulls are aggressive and dangerous stems from the fact that there are owners who train the dog to be vicious, and to attack, and certain myths surrounding the breed. This has led to the negative reputation that surrounds the breeds commonly classified as pit bulls.…

Here’s a little history on the American Pit Bull Terrior, dating back to late seventeen hundreds, the Pit Bull Terriors were used for bull baiting, hunting, and as family companions. When used as baiting dogs they were trained to latch on to the heads of bulls, bears, and other large animals. This was banned in the early eighteen hundreds and ever since then the notorious dog fighting had begun. Now, dog fighting has been banned and is a felony offense in all fifty states. Many dog breeds have been used for hunting and fighting, and are still used as family dogs today. For example, retrievers, pointers, spaniels, bulldogs and many more. These breeds were created…

In about a quarter of fatal dog-bite cases, the dog owners were previously involved in illegal fighting. The dogs that bite people are, in many cases, socially isolated because their owners are socially isolated, and they are vicious because they have owners who want a vicious dog. The junk-yard German shepherd -- which looks as if it would rip your throat out -- and the German shepherd guide dog are the same breed. But they are not the same dog, because they have owners with different intentions. (qtd. in Argument in support of breed bans).…

When I was looking on the computer for a nice-looking breed of dog to have for a pet, I immediately fell in love with the American Pit Bull Terrier. They are absolutely adorable. I went to pick up two puppies that same day. When I got there, I was a little hesitant to enter the house. There was about huge blue pit-bull who weighed about a hundred and twenty pounds staring right at me. They assured me that it was fine to come in and as soon as I did, the big blue ox jumped right up on my chest and started to lick me. That is when I knew I had to have one. They are intimidating to people who don't know much about them, but are loyal to their owners. I bought two of them and loved them to death. They were the perfect pets. They make excellent guard dogs and know who is supposed to be on your property and who is not. I think that the…

The Pit Bull breed of dog has a very bad reputation. This is because Pit Bulls are used as fighting dogs for some people’s amusement. Little do people know Pit Bulls are very good family dogs, and often called “The Nanny Dog”. I personally own three Pit Bulls, and have interviewed someone who does not own a pit bull. I have found a lot of information about this breed of dogs and everything points to one question. Although some individuals perceive pit bull dogs to have a bad reputation, many have found these animals to be wonderful house pets when treated with kindness and love.…

Most Americans do not know that pit bulls were once known as, “America 's Breed,” or that they were owned by individuals such as: Theodore Roosevelt, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Helen Keller. Pit bulls also served honorably in the military (Sargent Stubby was the most decorated dog in the first world war), were featured in films (Pete the Pup was a member of the Little Rascals), and were celebrated on famous World War I posters (“proclaiming: 'Land of the Free, Home of the Brave '”) (Dayan, 2010, p26). Indeed, pit bulls were once the darlings of American life and even regarded as man 's best friend. It wasn’t until the 1980s, when pit bulls began to develop a negative reputation. “Wolves are the dogs that stayed behind.” The world is a cruel place. A thing that can be treasured in one instance can be a threat in the next. For many people, we stare at the natural world and see its rugged beauty and wish that we could captivate it for ourselves. The case is no different for our modern dogs. Bred from the “empty canvas” of a wolf, we’ve modified, altered, formed, transformed, reformed, and remodified wolves to be one of the closest companions we have still today: dogs. But through all of our perfecting and reshaping that we’ve done to our best friends’ closest ancestors, wolves have prevailed, echoing their famous legacy still throughout the world. Wolves, now in danger of extinction, are one of the greatest controversies…
