Evolution of Cell Phone Technology
Technology for communicating is something that has been advancing increasingly more rapidly for the past 17 years. The idea of a wireless, mobile phone once seemed impossible, but is something that is crucial in society’s everyday life. Cell phones have been around only since 1995 and have evolved at a faster pace than any other modern form of technology. Cell phones started out as something a person occasionally carried around or kept in their car, but today, 91% of American’s don’t leave home without one. This is probably because there are 1 billion more cell phones than there are people in the world. Since 2005, the Apple iPhone emerged as an amazing platform, made for loading ground-breaking apps, designed with finger-flicking ease. They come out with new generations of iPhones at least once a year, with ever-expanding features and improvements. Cell phone companies are striving to keep up with the public’s demands, representing an industry that is always on the move. Today people are constantly on the lookout for the fastest, newest, most advanced upgrade. This has caused researchers to gaze into the future as they anticipate what the next advancements by manufacturers will be. Samsung has already released projection-offering devices, leading the public to believe that phones with holographic projection are soon to come about. An extraordinary amount of time could be saved with the ability to project straight from a phone, without going through the trouble of plugging in a laptop, booting up, etc. during a conference. Camera lenses on cell phones are also an expanding subject, with the capability of 12 megapixels, huge on-board storage, and even full editing being expected. The idea of augmented reality, a live view of a real-world environment whose elements are augmented by a computer, is also expected to be available on cell phones. This can enable clients to view package progress in real-time, show the location of victims of crime by their cellular
