Everyone Should Eat Healthier (Speech Outline)
eryEveryone Should Eat Healthier
Specific Purpose: I want my audience to eat healthier.
Thesis Statement: In this speech I will motivate you to eat healthier and be active, rather than eating foods that are bad for you, become obese, and live a short unhealthy life. I. Did you know that a hippo can open its mouth wide enough to fit a 4 foot tall child inside? II. We have many excuses for not eating healthy: I’m too busy. I don’t live near a grocery store. I can’t afford healthy food. I don’t know how to cook. III. According to livestrong.com, “In the United States, 30.6 percent of the population is obese, more than anywhere else in the world, while 68 percent are considered overweight. This means they face larger medical bills and risk diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer”. Poor diet and lack of exercise play a major role in obesity. A lot of people resort to junk food because it’s quick fast, and easily accessible. IV. According to confirmhealthy.com, “Eating healthy food may become a struggle, especially when there are so many fast food restaurants everywhere we turn. Often people make excuses like they don 't have time to get healthy food, it 's not that accessible, or that they don 't know how to prepare it. However, there are just as many supermarkets that stock fresh produce as there are fast foods outlets, so accessibility is a poor excuse”. I. Unhealthy eating can lead to several problems. A. Unhealthy eating can be classified as a few different things. 1. Eating Fast Food 2. Eating large quantities of Junk Food 3. Eating a lot of candy and sweets B. Eating unhealthy can result to obesity and even a life of health problems. 4. According to livestrong.com,” Many people are also unaware of the risks of eating junk food. Along with diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer, you also risk sleep apnea, bad skin, hair, nails and teeth, osteoporosis, poor sex drive, menstrual

When it comes to keeping the human body, nutrition is the most essential part of everyone’s life. If people do not have full control, it will affect the way they will be in the future. Any change to someone's diet will change their body in the long run, whether it be positive or negative. It is quite apparent, especially in America, that the common person’s nutrition has gone down hill. Since the 1980s, the rate of obesity has inflated double the amount for adults and triple for children (“Obesity” p. 1). Shockingly, America spends more on fast food than on college education, computers, software and cars combined.
