Everyday Use Symbolism Analysis
Symbolism can use Objects, situation, and people to represent ideas qualities. For example Raised Fist is a symbol of solidarity and support. It was used as a gesture to express strength. This was a major symbol back in The Black Power Movement. Other Symbol is Martin Luther King Jr. He represents Freedom, Civil Right’s for the blacks, and The 14 Amendment. Also Caesar Chavez he is a Symbol of Rights for Farm Worker’s and for every migrant that is coming to the United States. Now a Religious example The Cross it is a symbol that reminds us of God’s love in giving his own son as a scarify for Humanity. Basically everything should have a symbol of why the thing was named like that or why the symbol is there.

Everyday Use By Alice Walker is about an African American Family that have 3 family members; Dee, Maggie, and Momma Johnson. Dee is a girl that tents to hide her notionally with her educational and high class. Maggie is humble girl that has burn scares of the fire her and Momma went thought. Well Maggie walks out and asks “how do I look momma’, then her mommas says the story of why Maggie is so insecure. They are just standing outside Dee pulls up with a friend and mamma gets so happy but Maggie wants to run inside put her mamma pulls her back. They Dee takes out her camera and starts taking photo dog her momma and sister. Then they present them self’s with momma and Maggie. So then they go in to eat lunch and Dee just talking about how everything looks so nice and how it was made by their family. So she decides that she wants to take the butter churner for a center piece so she takes it then she decides that she wants the Quilts too but momma don’t let her cause those are Maggie’s. Dee just leaves all mad because she didn’t get those quilts and momma and Maggie feel

She also demands two quilts, made by her grandmother from scraps of fabric that were once memorable articles of clothing. However, Mama Johnson has already promised these quilts to Maggie for her impending marriage. Mama Johnson now has to decide whether to yield to Dee’s demands or keeping her promise to Maggie.
