Eve Teasing
Eve teasing is a euphemism used in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan for public harassments of women by man, with the use of word Eve being a reference to the biblical Eve, the 1st biblical women.
This problem received 1st public media attention in 1960s, in the following decades more and more started pursuing college and working independently- meaning that they were no longer accompanied by male escort as had been a norm in traditional society. In response the problem grew to alarming proportions and some boys started to tease and harass women in street and in front of school, college, and other places.
The term Eve-Teasing has gone farthest from its denotation in recent times in Bangladesh. Almost every young girl is a victim of eve teasing especially by the local eve teaser. According to the Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) the eve teaser may be: Teenage Boys, Rickshaw pullers, Bus drivers, Street vendors, Traffic vendors and often supervisors or colleague of the working place of women. And it’s a matter of regret that nowadays many educated boys are also enjoying the way of eve teasing. The most of the people may avoid it as a common matter of young generation. Yes it is, but it is not every time, it can be tolerated until no girl is being attacked but when it crosses the line it becomes a problem to us and it just crossed the limit and became one of the biggest social problems of our country nowadays.
According to The Daily Star, 2 girl committed suicide only in October 2010 and 4 girls were killed and another 44 were injured in that time. Well, this is just a ruff measurement which came across the people’s attention. There happened many occurrences like this, which were not published in the newspapers.
Now the question arises who is the main reason and responsible of eve teasing of our country? And the truth is boys; only boys are responsible for eve teasing and all that. The mind set up and the attitudes of boys are the main

I think boys are in trouble, and it is boys we need to turn our attention to, because we took too more our concern over the status of girls raised by the women's movement. Boys aren’t the man, they are still adolescent, and need our care and love as little girls. Like the authors said that boys and girls are different in the emotional and social, boys more weak to girls in physiological and psychological in the early age, so parents and teachers should give more education and encourage, but punishment only. I consider parents and teachers also should learn more about boys and…

Statistics show that suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for adolescents between the ages ten and fourteen. Also, the Center for Disease Control reports that it is the third leading cause for death, behind accidents and homicides of people aged fifteen to twenty four (teensuicidestatistics). 14.5 percent of high school students have made actual plans for committing suicide. In the United States someone dies by suicide every sixteen minutes and someone attempts every one minute. Internationally about one million people die by suicide each year more than war and homicide combined. 2/3 of suicidal deaths occur on the first attempt. Girls think about attempting suicide about twice as much as boys do. Boys, however, are actually four times more likely, than girls, to actually die by killing themselves. Each suicide death, intimately and profoundly affects at least six people (peoplepreventsuicide). In 1997, more adolescents died from suicide than AIDS, cancer, heart disease, birth defects and lung disease (ncpamd). Suicidal people think that there is no one out there to care for them. Therefore…

Teens who unfortunately killed themselves show that they had problems, like different disorders or psychiatric problems (Otsuki, Peterson, Kim). When someone is depressed, they feel like their only option is suicide to end the pain. “Girls cry out for help, while boys are taught to be tough and never to “act like a girl” (Portner 5). Both genders need to be treated equality, if a guy wants to cry and pour their heart out why should people stop them. The reason why teens go on with committing suicide might never be known but we know some reasons. Life can be hard and very unfair but teens need to realize that they have a whole world in front of them. Life is more than that blend moment they are having. There are so much suicide awareness but sometimes people forget that it is a real thing and people are fighting wars with their mind. Teens also might start cutting themselves which can lead to suicide. One wrong vain or move can end their…

A 14-year-old child from Malakand in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) shot himself because he had failed his exams for a third time. Every year Pakistan has cases where young adults and even children commit suicide due to the pressure of getting good grades and being high-performers, Blog Tribune points out. There are more than 1,000 suicides on college campuses across the United States. In the UK at one college there was 130 suicides before this year’s exams. Deccan Herald (a college’s newspaper) has reported 40 suicides a year at that college. In India there are 20 student suicides every day. So much death has come from the stress of being pushed. If you add all of the deaths it would be 200,000 deaths every year worldwide. With this rate and no repopulation it would take 37,000 years for every last human to commit suicide. But let's take that number and changed it to a day. At that rate it would take less than 102 years for there to be no one…

Boys will call each other “girly” to offend them. Girls that like pink are also shamed for it, because gendering colors is such an important part of society. There is nothing wrong with being feminine. Women having sex is strangely not seen as them being feminine, and therefore lesser, but men being masculine, and therefore superior. Masculinity is so fragile that boys will not make any innocent physical contact with one another without exclaiming that they are heterosexual. These same men are the ones that force themselves onto unconsenting women, assaulting them for the cool points and…

Our society views men as superior compared to women, boys become aware of this and makes boys want to uphold that role. Boys are told that girls are special and fragile and they should protect the girls and never hurt them and girls are told that the role of boys is to protect them. Parents raise their girls telling/showing them how to care for babies and how to cook meals. Then we have mass media which influences children into their gender roles by promoting toys and games geared towards a specific gender (Example girls- toy kitchens and baby dolls. Boys- pretend tool sets, police or fireman costumes.) Peers also play a role in gender socialization by teasing a friend for wearing a certain shirt that may seem to girly or boyish. I have witnessed this first hand with my daughter getting teased for playing with a toy dinosaurs from her female friends because they have been told that dinosaurs are for boys. I have learned from my own personal experiences regardless of how much parents try not to use gender socialization it will always be a part of our lives, it’s everywhere you…
