Ethics paper
Is there such a thing as a justified killing? Is all murder morally wrong? According to the bible one shall not kill, but that is a very vague statement. Its basically saying that no matter what killing is bad. Even if ones life may be threatened one shall not kill. Some would say yes it is wrong to kill someone no matter what. It is a sin to take ones life and with that should never be done. Well that is true, no one should go out and kill people for fun or anything like that. But if someone is in a position where there life is being threatened would they let that person kill them or would they fight for their life and kill that person if it came down to it? It may not be morally right and some may actually follow that right no matter what the situation, but there are also people who not hesitate to kill someone if their life was on the line. That doesn’t make that person in the wrong or any less of a person than someone who wouldn’t do it. There are different views to this question and how one would react to it. One view on this topic is that killing is wrong, there is no justified killing, and murder is just wrong, no ifs ands or buts about it. It says in the bible that thou shall not kill for it is a sin to take a life out of envy or hate. Everyone is god’s children and all should obey what he teaches. It is wrong to take ones life out of anger or even if it is to protect ones self. And one should accept the fate that lies ahead. Some would understand this view because it is wrong to take someone life no matter what the situations is. If a person has a conscience then that should tell them that murdering someone is bad. Even if someone is in a life or death situation and it is either them or the killer, that person is going to die because they believe it is just morally wrong to do that to a person. And they may not go down without a fight and would probably try and get the person that is trying to kill them to see that killing someone is wrong. But they

Hundreds of Americans are wrongfully sent to death row. This means that hundreds of people die innocently. Killing people for killing others is wrong in any situation. There are not many absolute truths in the world. Almost every point can be argued and justified. But if there is one truth universally recognized, one truth upon which societies the world over have been based on, it is that murder is wrong. The willful termination of a life is immoral. If we as a society accept that to be true, how then can we condone the death penalty? How is government sanctioned murder a moral option? The legal system is not fool proof, nothing man-made is. How then can we claim that an imperfect court of law, pervious to human error and persuasion, has the power to lay down the most perfectly irreversible solution of them all: death. Even after the appellate courts have been exhausted, it is possible for an innocent person to be convicted of a crime they did not do. If there is even that small possibility, how can we, in all good conscious, make it legal to put someone to…

No, murder should not be justifiable under any circumstances. There is no reason for anyone to purposely or accidently do something to cost another person their life. There are numerous occasions where people perform this terrible act upon another being, but the taking of another person’s life is never alright whether it is a cold blooded act, a stupid avoidable accident, or an act of anger and revenge.…

Murdering is violence in any circumstance. If we kill someone who killed another man then who will kill us? All religions agreed that God gives life to human and only God has the power to take it away. In many cases victim’s relatives want to take revenge but in a modern and civilized world there is no place to hostility. “Why kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?” (The john Howard society of Ontario, March 2001, page 1).…

To commence, religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are against any types of killings. The 10 Commandments states, “Thou shalt not murder/kill”. This evidence shows that murder is wrong because God is against it. Others may think they kill for safety for themselves against resentful people. Killing for safety is wrong because in most religions, people pray to their God to keep themselves out of harm's way.…

The worse scenario of a crime as seen as ethical is killing someone is self-defense. The debate of someone's life being more important than the attackers has several pros and cons. The person could be facing extreme punishments. Not only could it have legal punishments but mental punishments as well. Since the person would be abnormally violent, it could leave emotional damage. Taking someone's life into their own hands is a big decision and some people will argue that it is not worth it.…

There are lots of arguments to say when killing is justified as in the case of a war. In World War II the Nazi’s attempting to kill all the Jews in the world was definitely not justified, but on the other hand the Allies killing was justified because they were trying to keep the Germans from taking over the world and because of this we live in the world we live today.…

    Self Defense Is Wrong

In my opinion, I feel that self- defense killing is not wrong. For an example, if I’m home alone with my kids and someone breaks into my house to try to hurt me or my kids, as a mother my job is to protect my kids or die trying. No, I wouldn’t want to kill anybody because even though he/she is not innocent it’s still a human life that has to be taken. But I have to protect myself and my kids by any means, even if I have to kill someone. So no I do not think that killing someone in self-defense is wrong because the person that is trying to hurt you or a family member doesn't care if your life will be taken. So I’m not going to hesitate to kill them to protect myself and my family.…

The death penalty is morally impermissible. I know that many believe that criminals responsible for horrific crimes should be punished in proportion to the crime. Criminals do deserve to be punished for such crimes and should face lifetime in jail rather than being killed by the justice system. We should have a consistent respect for life regardless of who it is or what they have done as mentioned in the lecture by Lawrence M. Hinman. All human life is sacred. We can't say it is wrong to kill and then punish by killing in return. If it is wrong to take a way an innocent life then life itself must always be respected by the justice system. Otherwise it is a hypocritical system.…

I think that there is a morally important difference between killing and letting die. This is because there is a difference in performing an action that has a consequence and failing to do something that has the same consequence. Killing is worse than letting someone die because it would mean actively harming someone, but when letting someone die one simply omits to save them. An example: someone is hanging off a cliff, you choose not to help them because you know that you will fall too (letting die). Someone is hanging off a cliff and you step on their fingers to ensure that they fall (killing).…

While no one has a right to take someone’s life under any circumstance it is also morally wrong. “Morality is defined as "the principles of right and wrong." “(Carmical). When people do good deeds they deserve praise but there is another side to the same coin; punishment should be given for bad deeds. Punishments range from a slap on the wrist to something more severe, and while the punishment should fit the crime, death is too severe the consequence. “There are as many degrees of guilt and culpability as there are crimes,…

Many people have disagreements on the death penalty. My opinion on this argument is that we should abolish the death penalty from our criminal punishment system. As someone once said two wrongs do not make a right and I think that he is right. It is not doing justice killing another person because that person killed someone. My friend says this "If the person didn't mean to kill them they should live but, if they wanted to kill them then they should die"(Holeman).…
