Literal meaning of Ethics:
By definitions of different writers ethics is
“It is the basic concepts and fundamental principles of human conduct.”
“The rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc.”
“The study of standards of conduct and moral judgment; moral philosophy”
According to our book
Ethics are norms and standards or behavior that guides moral choices about our behavior and relationships with others.”
Role of Ethics in Research:
Research as a process involves three parties 1. Sponsor: the one who is hiring the researcher to conduct research for any cause. 2. Researcher: the one who will conduct research for the sponsor. 3. Participants or peer group: the group of people which will help researchers and sponsors to examine their research proposal.
Here each individual party has the right to experience safeguards of all kinds which includes psychological, physical and financial. Practice of Ethics ensures here offerings of all kind of safeguard to all the parties involved. In short helps in avoiding any sort of Ethical dilemma.
Necessary measures and issues involved in treatment of Participants:
(To be exercised by researcher)
Research should be designed in such a way that participants do not suffer any physical, financial, temporal and psychological discomforts. Following are the guidelines that should be practiced by researchers to make sure implementation of ethical principles in conducting research.

1. Explaining study benefits to the participants: In explaining the benefits the researcher may neither understate nor overstate them to the participants. Honest inputs will result in honest outcomes. If interviewer will deliver his part truthfully the participant will also feel ease and will deliver his answers truthfully. It is also said that knowing the purpose will improve the cooperation from participants and ensures the relevant data.
